Zijin Finance News, June 11th - The annual Apple Developer Conference once again captured the attention of the world.

In the early hours of June 11th, at the 2024 Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC), Apple updated its iOS, iPadOS, MacOS, and visionOS operating systems as usual.

After announcing the new operating systems, Apple's AI big model, Apple Intelligence, made its official debut. At the conference, Apple also announced a partnership with OpenAI. It was introduced that the GPT-4o model would be integrated into Siri, allowing users to use most of the model's functions for free without creating an account.

Since 1983, WWDC has been a crucial platform for Apple to showcase major product updates and communicate with the developer community. The highlight of this year's conference was "generative artificial intelligence," with AI-related content taking up most of the keynote speech.

However, these announcements seem to have failed to spark investor enthusiasm. From the secondary market perspective, as of the close of June 10th, Eastern Time, Apple closed at $193.12 per share, down 1.91%.

Apple AI Finally "Delivered"

Apple is almost the last technology giant to enter the field of artificial intelligence.

Last May, Apple CEO Tim Cook pointed out that while AI technology has broad prospects, there are still many challenges.

At this year's Apple Developer Conference, Apple unveiled the mystery of its AI strategy. Apple's first generative AI system, Apple Intelligence, made its official debut. Even though it is slightly behind in the AI wave, Apple is still shaping AI applications in its unique and innovative way.

40 minutes of the 1-hour 40-minute conference were dedicated to introducing Apple Intelligence.

In Cook's words, "This is the unique AI developed by Apple," different from the commonly referred to Artificial Intelligence, Apple's annotation for AI is Apple Intelligence, or "Apple Intelligence."

In the demonstration, Apple combined generative AI with personal usage scenarios to achieve intelligent functionality, essentially embedding AI into various tools.

For example, the writing tool, Writing Tools, a new system-wide callable tool built into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia, allows users to rewrite, proofread, and summarize text in almost any scenario, including emails, notes, Pages documents, and various third-party apps.

At the conference, Apple brought a series of update announcements, especially announcing in-depth cooperation with OpenAI.

The GPT-4o model will be integrated into Siri, allowing users to use most of the model's functions for free without creating an account.

Specifically, users only need to tell Siri their specific requirements, such as finding a photo, retrieving a file, planning a trip, predicting traffic conditions, and making corresponding plans. Based on relevant information and specific contexts, Apple Intelligence retrieves and analyzes data with the highest relevance to provide users with various intelligent assistance.

iOS 18 Ushers in an Epic Major Update

At this year's WWDC, Apple, as usual, ushered in a series of software system updates, including visionOS 2 for headsets, iOS 18 for phones, iPadOS 18 for tablets, watchOS 11 for watches, tvOS 18 for TVs, and macOS Sequoia for computers.

Among them, the most noteworthy is Apple's announcement that the operating system for iPhones will undergo a significant update: iOS 18.

After this update, users can perform more customizations on the iPhone's home screen, including new appearances for app icons in dark mode and methods to customize icon colors. The Control Center will be expanded to include more settings, including home control and media playback, and provide developers with methods to add controls. The new Control Center is more expandable, supporting third-party app control buttons, allowing users to freely customize the size of Control Center components. At the same time, the Control Center adds tab settings, allowing users to swipe and switch between different tab control centers.

iOS 18 will support underlining and strikethrough for text messages and support satellite text messaging. iPhones after the iPhone 14 series can achieve satellite messaging, and the recipient can receive the message even if they have not subscribed to satellite services.

iOS 18 will support Game Mode. After enabling Game Mode, the system will be optimized for gaming scenarios, minimizing background activities to ensure the highest frame rate performance. Wireless transmission for game controllers and AirPods will also be enhanced.

iOS 18's innovation in photo management is also a major highlight of this update.

The new Photos app not only provides intelligent screening tools to help users quickly locate target photos but also filters results based on specific conditions, such as hiding screenshots, greatly improving photo search efficiency. The redesigned user interface introduces personalized settings options, allowing users to adjust the display order and theme of the album according to personal preferences. The newly added poster view even gives every photo an artistic gallery-like display effect.

In addition, Vision Pro is receiving its first system version update. Cook announced that Vision Pro will be officially released in multiple countries, including China, Singapore, and Japan, with a starting price of 29,999 yuan. Pre-orders will be accepted on June 14th, and sales will begin on June 28th, with a limit of 2 units per customer.
