According to Apple's official website, iPhone 16 will be officially released at the "Apple Spring Festival Gala" on September 10th. Although the actual machine has not been seen yet, based on reports from domestic and foreign media, the general situation of the new machine has been confirmed. The main upgrades are in SOC chips, cameras, screens, appearance, battery form, charging power, and the all-new Ai big model. Overall, there is not much change in appearance, but whether its internal upgrades can stir up a new trend in the industry again will not be known until after the press conference.

So, let's start with some intuitive data to look at the phone's updates.

In terms of size, the design of the standard iPhone 16 series is basically the same as that of the previous generation, while the Pro series has grown larger.

Apple is expected to increase the size of the iPhone 16 Pro from 6.1 inches to 6.3 inches and the iPhone 16 Pro Max from 6.7 inches to 6.9 inches, which marks the first size upgrade for the Pro series since the iPhone 12 Pro series. In terms of weight, there is an increase of 7g and 4g, respectively.

It is worth mentioning that as the release date approaches, a new leak has given us a glimpse of the upcoming iPhone 16.

According to foreign media reports, a leaker shared this news on social media. There have been many rumors about potential design changes to Apple's 2024 iPhone lineup, and this image provides a real glimpse of those changes. We can see that this iPhone 16 has been splashed with rain outdoors, and we can clearly see the redesigned camera module on the back, with the flash located on the right side.

Unlike the diagonal placement in older models, the iPhone 16 now features a vertical arrangement. Foreign media speculates that repositioning the camera on the back may allow non-Pro iPhone models to capture spatial videos and photos. The iPhone 16 in the image is the black version, which is one of the rumored colors. It is reported that the device may come in colors such as black, green, pink, blue, and white or yellow. In addition, judging from the iPhone 16's "resistance" to rain, the device likely has some degree of water resistance.

Furthermore, it is reported that the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will be the first to feature the A18 chip, while the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will be the first to feature the A18 Pro chip.

The A18 Pro features a 6-core design, consisting of 2 performance cores and 4 energy-efficient cores. The CPU clock speed of the performance cores reaches 4.05GHz, comparable to that of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen4.

More importantly, Apple's A18 Pro will be the first to feature TSMC's N3P process technology. This brand-new process is more costly, while the A18 chip in the iPhone 16 will use TSMC's N3E process.

It is reported that N3P is an enhanced version of the N3E process, further improving energy efficiency and transistor density. Compared to N3E, N3P offers a 10% performance improvement and a 16% reduction in energy consumption.

In addition, Apple's A18 Pro integrates a 6-core GPU, providing a 40% improvement in graphics processing speed, making it Apple's most powerful mobile GPU to date.

It is worth noting that the entire A18 series supports Apple Intelligence, which is currently still in the testing phase and may not come pre-installed on the iPhone 16 when it ships.

Another focal point in today's technology landscape is leveraging the power of large models to find downstream AI application scenarios. AI phones and AI PCs have attracted the attention of technology giants, significantly boosting the market capitalization ceilings of top companies.

Apple is confident in the iPhone 16 and has placed initial orders for approximately 88-90 million units with component manufacturers, which is about 10% higher than the 80 million initial orders for the iPhone 15.

With sincere product upgrades, the iPhone 16 may usher in a new replacement cycle for Apple, which will also serve as a direct demonstration of the power of consumer electronics products transformed by AI.

Incidentally, according to channel sources, Apple's iPhone 16 series has already started mass production in India. Although the main focus of Apple's production in India remains the standard iPhone 16 model, a small number of high-end Pro models will also be produced.

These Indian-made iPhones are primarily sold domestically and exported to select global markets, including the United States. However, domestic users need not worry as Indian-made models will not be sold in the domestic market, so there is no need to fear purchasing an "Indian-flavored" Apple phone.

According to internal supply chain sources, Indian factories assembled approximately 30 million iPhones last year, and their production capacity has increased to 18 million units in the first half of this year. These devices not only meet the demand of the Indian domestic market but are also exported to overseas markets such as the United States.

Despite this, analysts point out that the Indian manufacturing industry still faces certain limitations, only providing a certain degree of diversification at the supply chain level for mainstream consumer electronics brands such as Apple and helping them expand into the Indian market. In the first quarter of this year, Apple's mobile phone shipments in India increased by 19%, driving its revenue in the Indian market to a record high. In India's premium smartphone market (priced above $800), Apple holds a 69% share, while Samsung accounts for the remaining 31%.

In addition, as the end of August approaches, with just a few weeks left until Apple announces the iPhone 16 series, the latest Counterpoint "Monthly Flagship Smartphone Display Tracker" analysis data shows that as of July, cumulative shipments of iPhone 15 series panels were 6% higher than those of the iPhone 14 series during the same period in 2022-2023. On a month-on-month basis in July, shipments of iPhone 15 series panels declined by 44%.

The report states that shipments of iPhone 16 series panels began in July. Panel shipments for the new series were 20% higher than those of the iPhone 15 series in June and July 2023.
