Smartphones are now ubiquitous, ranging from tens of thousands to just a few hundred yuan. However, as time passes, some users' needs for mobile phones are evolving, with many transitioning from traditional straight-screen devices to foldable phones. Nevertheless, even decent foldable phones often cost upwards of 8,000 or 9,000 yuan, or even more than 10,000 yuan. In daily use, such exorbitant prices may not be necessary, as some less cutting-edge models can still offer excellent performance. For instance, if someone wants to upgrade to a foldable phone, they don't necessarily need to opt for the latest, most expensive model costing tens of thousands of yuan.

Xiaomi MIX Fold 3, which I'm discussing today, can be a viable option. Released in August last year, it's just over a year old and far from outdated. Its original price started at 8,999 yuan, but now, on JD.com's self-operated store, with the help of subsidies and coupons, the lowest price has dropped to just 5,889 yuan, representing a savings of over 3,000 yuan in just one year. For a once-premium device, this is a significant discount.

Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 boasts impressive specifications. It's powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 Leading Edition, which offers slightly higher CPU and GPU frequencies compared to the standard version, translating to enhanced performance. In terms of design, when folded, it measures just 10.96mm thick, and when unfolded, it's a sleek 5.26mm. This thickness control is exemplary even by last year's standards. The outer screen is a 1080P OLED display, while the inner screen is a 2K OLED panel, both supporting 120Hz refresh rates and boasting peak brightness of 2600 nits.

With a 4800mAh battery capacity, it's average among foldable phones but far from inadequate. Both USB-C ports support USB 3.2 Gen1 speeds, and with 67W wired and 50W wireless charging, battery life is not a concern. In terms of photography, Xiaomi's collaboration with Leica extends to its foldable phones, with the rear camera setup featuring four lenses, a rarity in this segment.

The Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 sports a 50MP main camera, a 10MP telephoto lens, a 10MP periscope telephoto lens, a 12MP ultrawide-angle lens, and a 20MP selfie camera both inside and outside the phone. It supports full-range photography, allowing for ultra-long-distance shots and multi-angle hovering captures, offering a diverse range of creative options.

When it comes to multimedia entertainment, the large screen undoubtedly enhances the experience, complemented by stereo speakers for an immersive viewing and gaming experience. Regarding the creases on foldable screens, it's a challenge that no smartphone manufacturer can fully overcome with current technology. However, Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 has made strides in minimizing their visibility, thanks in part to its dragonbone hinge and dragon scale fiber, which also ensure the durability of key components.

While the choice of smartphone ultimately lies with you, if you're considering a foldable device, the Xiaomi MIX Fold 3, with its discounted price, is definitely worth considering.
