According to the news from Fast Technology on June 25, recently, at the Chengdu New Technology Test Site, the China Unicom Research Institute and Qualcomm jointly demonstrated a new milestone in 5G Advanced (5G-A) technology. Through the deployment of a new 5G-A high-low frequency multi-carrier aggregation solution, they successfully verified the high-speed experience under the new NR-CA networking architecture for the first time.

This verification utilized the 800MHz bandwidth in the high-frequency band and the 100MHz bandwidth in the 3.5GHz low-frequency band for carrier aggregation. On a smartphone equipped with the Snapdragon X80 baseband and radio frequency system, the single-user downlink peak rate exceeded 8.5Gbps.

The application of the new carrier aggregation technology for 5G-A high-low frequencies can intelligently and quickly adjust the use of high-frequency carriers based on user traffic characteristics, thereby optimizing user experience and reducing latency.

This not only improves the utilization efficiency of spectrum resources, but also provides technical support for a variety of emerging businesses, such as 4K/8K live sports broadcasts, XR (Extended Reality), and naked-eye 3D ultra-high-definition video live broadcasts.

At the same time, with the continuous maturity of 5G-A technology, more innovative applications are expected, such as intelligent transportation systems, low-altitude economies, and industrial digitization.
