Recently, Alibaba Cloud CTO Zhou Jingren released Tongyi Qianwen's new generation of open-source model Qwen2.5, and announced the comprehensive upgrades of Tongyi's flagship model Qwen-Max, Tongyi Lingma, and Tongyi Wanxiang, as well as the release of a new video generation model.

The performance of Qwen-Max is close to GPT-4o. The backend models of Tongyi's official website and Tongyi APP have been switched to Qwen-Max, continuing to provide free services to all users. Users can also call the API of Qwen-Max through Alibaba Cloud Bailian platform.

Meanwhile, following the first significant price reduction in May, Alibaba Cloud's Bailian platform has reduced the prices of its three main Tongyi Qianwen models again. The price of Qwen-Turbo has been reduced by 85%, while Qwen-Plus and Qwen-Max have been reduced by 80% and 50%, respectively.

Among them, Qwen-Plus's reasoning ability matches GPT4 and can be applied to complex tasks, making it the optimal choice for balancing effect, speed, and cost. After the price reduction, Qwen-Plus offers the highest cost-effectiveness in the industry, with prices 84% lower than industry standards for the same scale. At the same time, Alibaba Cloud's Bailian platform also provides over 50 million tokens and 4,500 image generation credits to all new users as gifts.

The reason for continuing to lower prices may be that Alibaba Cloud saw growth from the previous price reduction. Since the initial price reduction announcement, the number of paying customers on Alibaba Cloud Bailian has increased by more than 200% compared to the previous quarter, with a large number of enterprises and developers abandoning private deployment and choosing to directly call various AI large models on Bailian.

Currently, Alibaba Cloud Bailian has served over 300,000 customers, including well-known enterprises and institutions such as FAW Group, Kingsoft, Liepin, Hello Group, and the National Astronomical Observatories. This second round of price reductions by Tongyi will continue to increase the penetration rate of AI in various industries.
