Fast Technology, November 30 news: A developer has discovered traces of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 in Xiaomi's Pengpai OS code. The chip model is SM8850, and it is currently under testing.
According to the leak, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 will still use TSMC's 3nm process technology. This time, Qualcomm will utilize TSMC's latest third-generation 3nm process, N3P.
Public information shows that TSMC's N3P process is an optical micro-reduction version of N3E. Compared to N3E, N3P offers improvements in performance efficiency and transistor density. Under the same power consumption, the N3P process can improve performance by approximately 4% or reduce power consumption by about 9% at the same clock frequency. Additionally, the transistor density of N3P has increased by 4%, making chip design more compact and powerful.
Furthermore, the CPU frequency of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 will increase again. The Snapdragon 8 Ultimate Edition is known to integrate the second-generation self-developed Oryon CPU with a CPU clock speed of 4.32GHz. As an iterative platform, the CPU clock speed of Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 will exceed 4.32GHz, setting a new industry record.
Following tradition, Xiaomi's 16 series will be the first to launch with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 flagship platform. The new device is expected to be released in October.
