Fast Tech News on November 30: Qualcomm's next-generation flagship platform is expected to be named the second-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite Edition (hereinafter referred to as Snapdragon 8 Elite 2). According to a leak from the Digital Chat Station, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 model number is SM8850. This chip is currently being tested with two manufacturing processes: Samsung's SF2 and TSMC's third-generation 3nm (N3P), but end products are inclined to use only TSMC's N3P.

It is reported that TSMC's N3P is an upgraded version of N3E, further improving energy efficiency and transistor density. Compared to N3E, N3P offers about a 4% performance boost at the same power consumption or a 9% reduction in power consumption at the same performance level, with a 4% increase in transistor density.

Not only that, but the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 further increases the clock speed based on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Edition, expected to bring at least a 20% performance improvement. It also features single-frame power reduction technology, beneficial for gamers.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Edition is known to integrate Qualcomm's second-generation self-developed Oryon CPU, adopting a 2+6 design with 2 ultra-large cores at 4.32GHz and 6 performance cores at 3.53GHz, with the efficiency cores eliminated.

This means the CPU frequency of the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 will exceed 4.32GHz, making it Qualcomm's highest-frequency mobile chip ever and expected to be the most powerful mobile chip in the Android camp.

Following tradition, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 is expected to be unveiled in October next year.
