In the current global mobile phone market, domestic brands have captured over 60% of the global market share. Among the top 10 global mobile phone brands, only Samsung and Apple hold the first and second spots, respectively, with the remaining eight spots occupied by Chinese brands.
These Chinese brands excel not only in the domestic market, where they command 90% of the share, but also in overseas markets across Asia, Africa, and the Americas, earning the admiration of consumers worldwide.
The question arises: which domestic mobile phone brand leads in overseas sales and revenue? Recently, the renowned agency IDC released a ranking of sales and revenue for the top 10 brands in overseas markets, excluding China.
In terms of revenue, the top five brands are Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, Lenovo, and OPPO, followed by TECNO, Google, VIVO, Honor, and realme. In sales, the ranking is Samsung, Apple, Xiaomi, TECNO, Lenovo, VIVO, OPPO, realme, Honor, and Google.
Unsurprisingly, Xiaomi tops the list for both revenue and sales among domestic brands.
Lenovo, however, emerges as a pleasant surprise, ranking second in revenue among domestic brands and fourth globally, while ranking third in sales domestically and fifth globally. Data reveals that in the first quarter of 2025, Lenovo's Motorola mobile phone revenue overseas reached $3.42 billion (approximately 25 billion yuan), a significant increase of 16.7% year-on-year, far outpacing the market growth rate of 4.4%.
Specifically, Lenovo generated $1.01 billion in revenue from the North American market and $990 million from the US market, ranking third after Apple and Samsung, up from fourth.
Lenovo's strong performance is primarily attributed to Motorola. Since acquiring Motorola, Lenovo has gained recognition in overseas markets. Even in markets like the United States, where brands like Huawei are absent, Motorola consistently performs well, ranking third in the US market.
Furthermore, Motorola performs exceptionally well in overseas markets such as India and Africa. Lenovo's foldable mobile phones, known for their affordability and cost-effectiveness, are particularly popular in these markets.
In the first quarter of 2025, Lenovo's global shipments reached 13.85 million units, ranking eighth globally. Notably, 13.71 million units were shipped overseas, accounting for 99% of total shipments, primarily driven by overseas sales. This figure is higher than brands like OPPO and VIVO.
