On May 28, 2026, during its 'Dare to Lead' Intelligent Strategy Launch Event, BYD's Chairman Wang Chuanfu declared, 'The first half of the electrification era was dominated by batteries; the second half, driven by intelligence, will hinge on chips.' In a landmark move, BYD introduced China's first 4nm process intelligent driving chip, the Xuanji A3, marking a significant stride in intelligent transformation and leading the charge in the global automotive industry's smart revolution.

Moreover, building on its commitment to intelligent parking safety, BYD once again led the way by pledging a one-year urban navigation safety guarantee. The company announced that all its models could be outfitted with the Eyes of God B laser-assisted driving system, available at an optional price of 12,000 yuan, ushering in a new era of universal urban navigation and making cutting-edge technology both accessible and dependable for all.

Establishing Three Key Objectives for the Second Half of Intelligent Transformation, Based on Genuine Human Needs

Over recent years, the world has witnessed a surge in artificial intelligence development, with perception hardware and chips advancing at an unprecedented rate, transforming automobiles from mere transportation tools into intelligent entities capable of proactive thinking. Guided by genuine human needs, BYD has outlined three major objectives for the next phase of automotive intelligence: achieving 'zero traffic accidents,' elevating assisted driving to a 'super driver' status, and transforming AI into a 'super secretary.' BYD is set to continue investing over 100 billion yuan in R&D to tackle traffic safety challenges and enhance overall human well-being.

Twenty-Four Years of Expertise: BYD Unveils China’s First 4nm Intelligent Driving Chip

At the launch event, BYD presented China's inaugural 4nm process intelligent driving chip, the Xuanji A3, which has commenced mass production and supports L3 and L4 autonomous driving. Through the seamless collaboration of three chips, it delivers a total computing power exceeding 2100TOPS, while maintaining a balance between power consumption control and computing power utilization. As China's first self-developed 4nm intelligent driving chip, it represents the pinnacle of Chinese innovation in this field: automotive-grade 4nm, boasting not only the industry's most advanced process but also the lowest power consumption per unit of computing power, 20% lower than comparable products. The Xuanji A3 can be integrated with BYD's proprietary algorithms for deep optimization, enhancing computing power utilization by 100%, enabling faster response times for assisted driving, stronger capabilities in handling complex scenarios, higher safety standards, and achieving full-chain controllability of assisted driving.

Since establishing its own chip team, the IC Design Department, which later evolved into BYD Semiconductor, in 2002, BYD has strategically positioned itself in the chip sector. It achieved the earliest domestic mass production and vehicle installation of automotive-grade IGBT and SiC power chips, earning the National Science and Technology Progress Award twice. To date, BYD has introduced over 2,000 chip products, applied across five major domains: intelligent vehicles, consumer electronics, home appliances, industrial equipment, and photovoltaic energy storage. In the more demanding automotive-grade field, BYD has emerged as China's largest chip enterprise, now offering 13 major categories with 567 chip products widely utilized in 46 domestic and international automotive brands.

BYD's ability to launch the Xuanji A3 is a testament to its R&D prowess: currently, BYD's chip R&D team exceeds 7,000 members, with cumulative investments surpassing 100 billion yuan. It boasts four R&D bases and five wafer manufacturing facilities, including the Chengdu factory, China's largest 12-inch wafer factory dedicated to automotive-grade chips. Regarding the chip manufacturing process, BYD comprehensively covers all seven major steps from product definition, architecture design, circuit design, layout design, wafer manufacturing, packaging, to testing, making it the only automotive company globally with full-process, full-chain chip manufacturing capabilities.

BYD Pioneers an Era of Universal Urban Navigation, Leading the Way in Urban Navigation Safety

In February 2025, BYD launched its 'Universal Intelligent Driving' strategy, announcing that all its models would come standard with the Eyes of God assisted driving system. At this launch event, adhering to the philosophy of 'making advanced technology accessible to all,' BYD announced the dawn of an era of universal urban navigation: all its models can be equipped with the Eyes of God B laser-assisted driving system, available at an optional price of 12,000 yuan. Additionally, the functions of the Eyes of God C are slated for a major upgrade, expected to be available via OTA in December this year.

Following the introduction of the intelligent parking safety guarantee last July, the usage rate of the Eyes of God intelligent parking function soared from 21% initially to 93% currently, with virtually no intelligent parking accidents reported. Bolstered by confidence in the Eyes of God technology and a responsible attitude towards consumers, BYD once again took the lead by pledging a one-year urban navigation safety guarantee: from now on, for one year, new users of the Eyes of God A and Eyes of God B can enjoy a one-year urban navigation safety guarantee from the date of vehicle pickup, while existing owners can avail of the same after OTA upgrading to Eyes of God 5.0. If a user is involved in a liable traffic accident while using the urban navigation function in compliance with regulations, BYD will directly cover the direct economic losses (including vehicle repair costs, third-party property damage, and personal injury losses) incurred by the vehicle.

Compared to common intelligent driving insurance in the industry, BYD's urban navigation safety guarantee is entirely complimentary, has no upper limit, and does not affect the commercial insurance premiums for the following year. Thus, BYD has become the world's first company to offer a 'dual safety guarantee' for both urban navigation and intelligent parking, using tangible actions to seamlessly integrate assisted driving into users' daily travel and lives, providing them with a secure experience.

BYD continues to reshape the world through technology. In the first half of the electrification era, BYD addressed global challenges of 'slow charging' and 'difficult low-temperature charging' with its second-generation blade battery and flash charging technology. In the second half, focused on intelligence, BYD is committed to achieving the goal of 'zero traffic accidents': it will continually push the boundaries of assisted driving capabilities with the Eyes of God, instill confidence in users regarding assisted driving through safety guarantees, lay the groundwork for future intelligent automotive experiences with high-computing-power intelligent driving chips, and safeguard the driving safety of every user with its robust strength. BYD Chairman Wang Chuanfu stated, 'True 'daring' is never about being fearless but about having reverence for life, rules, and technology, knowing it's difficult but persevering nonetheless, always undertaking the challenging yet righteous tasks, daring to be first, and forging ahead relentlessly!
