Recently, rumors about Guangqi Honda Fit's impending cessation of production have attracted widespread attention: "Guangqi will no longer produce Fit," "The 4S store said this is the last Fit, and it won't be produced anymore," and other rumors have emerged in succession. However, these rumors have been confirmed as false. Guangqi Honda executives clearly stated that the Fit model not only has no plans to cease production but is still undergoing normal iterations.
In March this year, Guangqi Honda also introduced the domestically produced Fit MUGEN version, priced starting at 97,800 yuan, further enriching its product line. It is reported that the global debut of the all-new Fit may be scheduled for 2026, but there are also reports that it may appear as early as the end of 2025. Admittedly, Honda has been relatively proactive in upgrading the next-generation Fit, but the rapid decline in sales has forced the company to repeatedly address rumors of Fit's cessation of production.
In the era of gasoline vehicles, the Honda Fit was a top choice for many young users as a daily commute option. Its compact size made it easy to maneuver, and while the interior space was not large, it was just right. Fuel costs were also acceptable. However, the rapid decline in sales is primarily due to fierce market competition, especially the rise of new energy vehicles, which has gradually weakened the Fit's advantages.
First, in terms of price and configuration, the Honda Fit was already a relatively affordable option among joint venture vehicles. However, with the launch of domestic new energy vehicles such as Wuling Bingguo, Dolphin, and Seagull, the Fit has little advantage in terms of cost-effectiveness. Even its low energy replenishment costs, once a highlight, have quickly been replaced by domestic new energy vehicles. This has placed tremendous market competition pressure on the Fit, naturally affecting its sales.

Secondly, consumers now place greater emphasis on intelligence, connectivity, and new energy when purchasing vehicles. The Fit lags behind in these areas, making it hard to imagine a 2024 model without a central control screen, equipped only with a radio. At the same time, competitors like BYD Seagull and Wuling Bingguo can quickly capture consumer demand and launch more attractive products, thereby capturing market share.
Apart from the market environment, the Fit product itself is also a factor. Some consumers have reported that the Fit's interior workmanship is rough and its configuration is low, giving it no advantage over competitors in the same class. Some car owners have stated that the vehicle makes abnormal noises during driving, affecting the driving experience.
Data shows that Honda Fit's sales performance in 2024 has shown a certain downward trend. In January 2024, the Fit's monthly retail sales were 2,188 units, a decrease of 30.16% from the previous month. By September 2024, sales of the Fit were 815 units, accounting for 2.32% of Guangqi Honda's share and 0.09% of the market share in sedans, with a 0.86% market share in small cars.
Compared to previous sales, Honda Fit's share in the small car segment has decreased significantly. It should also be noted that due to cost constraints, the Fit itself does not offer significant discounts, prompting many young users to choose domestic new energy vehicles with lower prices, usage costs, and richer configurations.
