Time flies, and the battle of car companies in 2024 is drawing to a close, but the battle in 2025 has quietly begun. Recently, a number of new force car companies have launched their new car plans for 2025, with significant changes from models to technology and design concepts. Let's take a look at the new car plans of many new force car companies in 2025.
1 Xiaomi Automobile
In 2024, Xiaomi Automobile became an overnight success with Xiaomi SU7 and even quickly completed the short-term goal of delivering 100,000 vehicles. After the success of SU7, Xiaomi SU7 Ultra was also unveiled at the Guangzhou Auto Show with a pre-sale price of 814,900 yuan, scheduled to be launched in March 2025. This model will be equipped with three motors and have a top speed of over 300 km/h.
At the same time, Xiaomi Automobile's first SUV model will also be launched in 2025, equipped with dual motors and rear-wheel steering technology. Previously, spy shots of the exterior and interior of Xiaomi's first SUV have been exposed. The new car features a fastback coupe SUV design with tail lights similar to those of SU7. Meanwhile, Xiaomi's second car will share the platform and some components with SU7, and is expected to perform well in terms of intelligent driving and intelligent cockpit.
2 HarmonyOS Smart Ride
HarmonyOS Smart Ride will launch a new SUV, the Wenjie M8, and the Xiangjie S9 extended-range version in 2025. In addition to launching the Zunjie S800, the Zunjie brand will also launch a second model by the end of the year.
Specifically, the Wenjie M8 will be launched in the first half of 2025, targeting the Lixiang L8, and the price may overlap with that of the Lixiang L8, with a predicted price range of 320,000 to 380,000 yuan. From the exposed spy shots and patent drawings, the new car will adopt a new circular headlights design, and the tail lights will be equipped with the same tail light group as the Wenjie M9, featuring playful elements and programming functions. The vehicle will also be equipped with LiDAR, a through-screen triple display, HUD head-up display, and Huawei exclusive audio.
Spy shots of the Xiangjie S9 extended-range version have also been exposed. The design of the new car remains consistent with that of the pure electric version, but the powertrain is currently unknown. At the same time, the new car will also have a longer version and a wagon version. It is worth mentioning that at the recently concluded Huawei "Mate Brand Ceremony", the Xiangjie S9 Ultra long-range version was launched, with a maximum range of up to 816 km, further consolidating its reputation as the "No. 1 pure electric sedan in the 400,000 yuan range".
At the Huawei "Mate Brand Ceremony" new product launch event held on November 26, the Zunjie S800 made a grand debut. Priced between 1 million and 1.5 million yuan, it targets the Mercedes-Benz Maybach. It has been reported that the new car will be launched in the spring of 2025, with a second model to follow by the end of 2025.
3 Lixiang Auto
The popular Lixiang Auto is riding high and will launch three all-new pure electric SUVs in 2025, expected to be named M7, M8, and M9, corresponding to medium-sized, mid-sized, and large SUVs, respectively, distinguishing them from Lixiang's mainstay extended-range hybrid technology.
According to media disclosures, the price of Lixiang's pure electric models will exceed 300,000 yuan. The three new models are expected to be equipped with an 800V high-voltage pure electric platform architecture that supports 5C super-fast charging technology. It is believed that the distinctly different design style and concept from the L series will attract more user groups. Currently, Lixiang has built more than 700 charging stations and 3,200 charging piles, clearly preparing for its entry into the pure electric vehicle market.
4 Leapmotor
This year, if there's a "super dark horse" among car companies, it has to be Leapmotor. Zhu Jiangming, chairman of Leapmotor, introduced that "in the future, Leapmotor will consist of four major series: A, B, C, and D. In 2025, three B series models will be launched, mainly focusing on the 100,000 to 150,000 yuan market, with high-end models also equipped with LiDAR and high-AI computing power intelligent driving chips." It is reported that Leapmotor currently has no plans to enter the market above 300,000 yuan and will continue to focus on producing popular models. Of course, Leapmotor's significant actions are inseparable from its deep research and development. Leapmotor has always adhered to the development path of "full-domain self-research" in core technology areas. In 2023, Leapmotor released the "Clover" centralized electronic and electrical architecture, achieving the industry's first four-domain integration; in 2024, Leapmotor launched the latest iterated LEAP 3.0 technology architecture, covering six key technology areas. Such technological innovations have made Leapmotor the first domestic new force and the second globally to possess full self-research and development capabilities for smart electric vehicles.
As early as at the Paris Motor Show in October, Leapmotor unveiled the all-new B-platform model B10 and two other B-series products, which will be launched globally in 2025. The B10 adopts a split headlight group with a through-type daytime running light structure, complemented by a black grille trim plate below, giving it an atmospheric appearance. At the same time, the new car will also be equipped with the LEAP 3.5 technology architecture, with high-end models featuring LiDAR and advanced intelligent driving functions. In addition, Zhu Jiangming also revealed that Leapmotor will launch the A series in 2025, targeting the 100,000 yuan level. The D series will be launched in 2026, focusing on the 200,000 yuan market. Leapmotor's aggressive launch of new cars is aimed at further expanding its market share and seizing the initiative by leveraging its two strengths - pure electric and extended-range vehicles, along with various advanced technologies.
5 Xpeng Motors
After a period of silence, Xpeng Motors has seen a resurgence. First, the MONA M03 achieved the remarkable feat of receiving 30,000 orders within 48 hours, followed by the P7+ receiving over 10,000 orders in just 12 minutes, proving Xpeng Motors' return to prominence. In 2025, Xpeng Motors will launch an overwhelming number of new models.
Starting in March, Xpeng Motors will enter an intense period of new car launches, including the facelifted Xpeng P7i, Xpeng G6, Xpeng G9, Xpeng X9, Xpeng G7, Xpeng G01, and Xpeng Land Aircraft Carrier. Among them, the Xpeng G7, Xpeng G01, and Xpeng Land Aircraft Carrier are all new models, while the rest are facelifted versions. After two years of preparation, Xpeng Motors is poised for a strong comeback.
6 NIO
Among the new forces in car manufacturing, "NIO, Xpeng, and Lixiang" were once at the forefront. However, as time passed, NIO gradually fell behind. Compared to Lixiang and Xpeng, NIO's performance has been lukewarm. Can NIO make a strong comeback in 2025?
NIO's flagship model, the ET9, is set to be launched at NIO Day 2024 at the end of this year. Will this long-awaited move illuminate NIO's future path? Secondly, NIO's sub-brand, Letao, will launch two all-new home SUVs in 2025, one being a 6/7-seater flagship SUV and the other a large five-seater SUV, similar to the Lixiang L8 and L7. Finally, there's NIO's third brand, Firefly, which will make its debut along with its new car on December 21, targeting the 100,000 to 200,000 yuan premium compact car market. After a period of silence, NIO is ramping up production.
Conclusion
The automotive industry is currently facing unprecedented changes. To survive this wave of transformation, new force car companies must delve deeply into technology and continuously provide good products to users. Next year's new car market promises to be a fierce competition. From the "Firefly" in the 100,000 yuan range to the million-yuan Zunjie S800, from pure electric to extended-range hybrid, there are strong players in every market segment. It is worth mentioning that although each company has its own challenges, they are currently striving to address their weaknesses. While expanding production capacity, Xiaomi is continuously launching new products to capture market share; HarmonyOS Smart Ride is expanding its product line while introducing new models, striving to build China's first autonomous ultra-luxury brand; Lixiang is consolidating sales of its extended-range models while aiming to address deficiencies in pure electric vehicles; Leapmotor is leveraging its technological reserves to develop products across multiple lines, focusing on producing popular models priced below 300,000 yuan; after two years of preparation, Xpeng Motors is aiming for market share with multiple models; and NIO is now launching sub-brands to address the high price point of its products. In short, each company is displaying its unique strengths. Of course, for consumers, this is undoubtedly a boon, with continuously optimized brand products, an increasingly diverse range, and more affordable models coming into the public eye. With numerous car companies, diverse models, and frequently upgraded vehicles to choose from, the future has arrived, and the new forces are poised for action. Who will deliver the perfect answer? We'll just have to wait and see.
