On March 27, Yangwang Automobile launched its dual flagship models, the pure electric and plug-in hybrid versions of the Yangwang U7, a super four-electric flagship sedan. The five-seater variant starts at 628,000 yuan, while the four-seater version commences at 708,000 yuan. Powered by Yangwang's signature YiSiFang technology, the U7 boasts over 1,300 horsepower, achieving a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 2.9 seconds. It also showcases innovative capabilities such as all-terrain in-situ turning, stable driving with a flat tire at high speeds, and parallel parking. Furthermore, the U7 is equipped with the world's first intelligent suspension body control system, CloudRide-Z, which applies electromagnetic principle technology—previously used in aircraft carrier electromagnetic catapult systems and maglev trains—to the automotive field for the first time, offering users an unparalleled smooth driving experience. This marks the first mass production of fully electrified suspension systems globally for new energy vehicles, based on batteries, motors, and electronic controls, signaling the official entry of new energy vehicles into the "Four Electric Era".
Revolutionary electric suspension technology stabilizes vehicles into new realms with several industry-leading parameters
In the current automotive landscape, even the most advanced fully active suspensions typically use oil as the medium for adjustment, which has inherent physical limitations such as long energy transmission paths and limited response control speed and accuracy. To significantly enhance smoothness and comfort, automotive suspension technology must transcend the limitations of oil control. In pursuit of this, BYD Group invested heavily, venturing into uncharted technical territories and comprehensively overturning the industry's traditional body control technology over seven years. The result is the world's first intelligent suspension body control system, CloudRide-Z, which is first mounted on the Yangwang U7.
Yangwang U7's CloudRide-Z electric suspension features the world's first direct-drive technology for suspension motors, converting electrical energy directly into powerful kinetic energy output without the need for oil. This realizes intelligent direct drive for vertical body control, marking a revolutionary leap from "oil" to "electricity". CloudRide-Z has achieved several industry-leading optimal parameter records: it boasts a peak power of 50kW, the highest in the vertical control field; its Magic Ruler sensor has an industry-fastest detection response speed of 50 microseconds, capable of capturing body posture 4,000 times in a blink, 20 times faster than mainstream industry levels; and its detection accuracy is as high as 10 micrometers, instantaneously capturing minute displacement information as thin as one-tenth of a sheet of paper. At the control execution level, CloudRide-Z also claims the world's fastest active force adjustment speed, completing full-link execution within 5 milliseconds, dozens of times faster than traditional active suspensions, with the highest body height adjustment accuracy of just 1 millimeter. CloudRide-Z's extreme detection execution speed and accuracy allow the Yangwang U7 to effortlessly handle random potholes and bumpy roads, achieving "adjustment without preview", ushering in a new realm of driving experience where "there are no obstacles from now on".
The pinnacle of cutting-edge technologies elevates safety and experience to new heights
Beyond the revolutionary CloudRide-Z electric suspension, the Yangwang U7 integrates multiple cutting-edge technologies from BYD, setting new benchmarks for flagship sedan safety, comfort, and luxury. Leveraging Yangwang's standard YiSiFang four-wheel independent torque vector control technology, the U7 can independently control the four wheels at the millisecond level. Building on functions like in-situ turning and fixed-wheel rotation, it globally pioneers the "parallel shift" function, enabling the vehicle to "move sideways", turning imagination into reality. Additionally, the U7 is equipped with bidirectional 20° intelligent rear-wheel steering, combined with YiSiFang agile steering, allowing the D-segment Yangwang U7 to exhibit flexibility comparable to A0-segment cars. In terms of intelligent driving, the U7 is equipped with the TianShenZhiYan A triple LiDAR solution, featuring 32 intelligent driving sensors throughout the vehicle and adopting dual Orin X chips with a computing power of up to 508 TOPS, realizing L2+ advanced intelligent driving assistance capabilities. The city pilot function is available upon delivery, offering users a nationwide driving experience that improves over time.
Benefiting from BYD Group's 30 years of vertical integration capabilities, the Yangwang U7 bridges the gap between hardware, enabling YiSiFang, CloudRide-Z, and bidirectional 20° intelligent rear-wheel steering to fully integrate and achieve comprehensive digital coordinated control of the body's attitude in three dimensions and six degrees of freedom. This significantly reduces system latency and provides users with unprecedented safety performance. In previous high-speed dual-wheel blowout tests, whether it was same-side or diagonal dual wheels at speeds exceeding 160 km/h, the U7's driving posture and direction remained largely unaffected during wheel depressurization. In the 100 km/h lateral rear-end collision test, the U7 quickly returned to its original driving trajectory within a short period, achieving stable driving without deviation, pushing automotive safety performance to new heights. Furthermore, the U7's moose test reached a maximum speed of 95.78 km/h, and the unmanned moose test even reached 95.11 km/h, topping the industry's highest level.
The pure electric and plug-in hybrid versions of the Yangwang U7 measure 5265mm and 5360mm in length, respectively, with wheelbases of 3160mm and 3200mm. The pure electric version is equipped with a 135.5kWh high-performance blade battery exclusive to Yangwang, offering a CLTC pure electric driving range of 720 km. The plug-in hybrid version has a battery capacity of 52.4kWh and a combined driving range of 1000 km. Notably, the plug-in hybrid version is equipped with China's first mass-produced horizontally opposed engine, innovatively compressing the engine height to 420mm, significantly lower than the over 700mm height of inline engines. The horizontally opposed engine structure cancels out vibrations, providing silence and smoothness. It not only maximizes the front compartment space of new energy vehicles but also controls the noise difference between hybrid and pure electric conditions within 1 decibel, offering users the ultimate tranquility of "as quiet as electricity".
Eastern aesthetics meet technology, creating a new chapter in aesthetics with harmonious internal and external cultivation
The Yangwang U7 is available in four colors: Lunar Silver, Obsidian Black, Fluorite White, and Argyle Purple. Its exterior design draws inspiration from the "Gate of Time and Space" family visual identity, inspired by the cultural crystallization of Chinese civilization—the Sanxingdui bronze mask—to create a highly recognizable front face, presenting the aesthetics of new energy sedans in the new era. The interstellar pixel headlights, frameless door design, and electric tailgate endow the U7 with both technological attributes and luxurious texture. The side Flying Skyline waistline, inspired by Dunhuang mural art, not only makes the vehicle appear lightweight and agile but also optimizes aerodynamics, reducing the U7's drag coefficient to 0.195, fully displaying the agile beauty of a flagship sedan.
Stepping into the cabin, the Yangwang U7's double-embrace cockpit inherits the symmetry beauty of traditional Chinese architectural design, harmoniously blending the technological ethos of the new energy era with eastern aesthetics. The vehicle is equipped with 23 Dynaudio Platinum Evidence series Hi-End class speakers, transplanting million-level home audio quality into the cabin, providing a detailed, warm, and natural pure sound experience.
