"Jensen Huang's China Visit Bears Fruitful Outcomes"
Jensen Huang's visit to China has garnered unprecedented attention.
This is not merely a visit by the founder of the world's leading AI chip company; on July 9, NVIDIA's market capitalization surpassed $4 trillion, making it the most valuable company in human history.
Following this milestone, Jensen Huang arrived in Beijing on July 12-13 (weekend) and posed for a photo with Lei Jun, founder of Xiaomi Group, in support of Xiaomi's YU7.
On July 15, Huang revealed that NVIDIA is submitting an application to resume sales of H100 GPUs, and the US government has assured NVIDIA that it will grant the license. Huang also announced the launch of a new, fully compatible RTX PRO series GPU, which is "ideal for creating digital twin AI for smart factories and logistics." According to media reports, giants such as Alibaba, Tencent, and ByteDance have placed orders for NVIDIA's H100 GPUs.
On July 16, NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang attended the opening ceremony of the 3rd Chain Expo and delivered a speech.
With numerous GPU orders in hand, Huang did not hesitate to praise Chinese AI companies and Chinese AI during his speech at the Chain Expo—
"China's open-source AI serves as a catalyst for global progress, offering countries and industries the chance to participate in this AI revolution."
"Over 1.5 million developers in China are innovating on the NVIDIA platform, turning their visions into reality. World-class large models nurtured and open-sourced in China, including DeepMind's AlphaFold, Alibaba's M6, Tencent's Hunyuan, MiniMax, and Baidu's Ernie Bot, are driving rapid global AI advancement."
He believes that the next wave of AI will be robotic systems, equipped with reasoning and execution capabilities, capable of understanding the physical world. In the coming decade, factories will be powered by software and AI, coordinating robotic teams that collaborate with humans to produce AI-driven smart products.
Below is the full text of Huang's speech:
"I am honored to participate in the China Chain Expo for the first time. China's supply chain is nothing short of a miracle. This is my inaugural attendance, and I am thrilled. It is also the first time I have had the opportunity to introduce NVIDIA to China's vast supply chain, the first time I have been invited by the president, and the first time I have delivered a speech in Chinese. I grew up in the United States but have been studying Chinese, and I will do my best."
Dear guests and friends, good morning!
I am delighted to be in China this time, and this is my first visit to the Chain Expo. The scale here is immense, and the atmosphere is warm, fully demonstrating China's commitment to innovation and building a prosperous future together.
Let me first introduce NVIDIA and the industry we have built. It all began in 1993 when NVIDIA was a small startup with a grand dream. We aimed to redefine the gaming experience on personal computers using 3D graphics technology. We are proud to have helped establish the PC gaming industry, one of the largest technology and entertainment industries globally.
We have collaborated with pioneering companies in China, such as Tencent, NetEase, miHoYo, and Game Science. In 1999, we invented the GPU—the first programmable graphics processor, opening the door to accelerated computing.
In 2006, CUDA was born, transforming the GPU into a general-purpose computing engine and ushering in the era of AI. Ten years ago, the running of AlexNet on NVIDIA GPUs sparked the AI explosion. Previously, software relied on manual coding and ran on CPUs, but now AI learns from data and operates on GPUs. This transformation—from human-written logic to machine-learned intelligence—is radically reshaping the chip and computer industries.
In 2016, we launched the world's first AI supercomputer, DGX-1. I personally delivered the first one to a then-small startup in San Francisco called OpenAI.
Since AlexNet, we have also expanded AI computing from business to system networks and software, improving AI computing performance by 100,000 times, which is 1,000 times faster than Moore's Law. Today, NVIDIA has become the computing platform driving the global AI ecosystem.
AI is transforming every industry—from scientific research, healthcare, to energy development, transportation, and logistics management.
AI powers iconic Chinese platforms like Tencent WeChat, Alibaba Taobao, and ByteDance Douyin; it drives Xiaomi's autonomous driving and smartphones; it empowers Baidu's AI search and Meituan's ultra-fast and convenient intelligent delivery services; it also supports medical imaging diagnosis systems in medical technology, enhancing medical standards in over 20 countries worldwide.
The unsung heroes behind China's rapid innovation are researchers, developers, and entrepreneurs like you. Over 1.5 million developers in China are innovating on the NVIDIA platform, turning their visions into reality. World-class large models nurtured and open-sourced in China, including DeepMind's AlphaFold, Alibaba's M6, Tencent's Hunyuan, MiniMax, and Baidu's Ernie Bot, are driving rapid global AI advancement.
China's open-source AI serves as a catalyst for global progress, offering countries and industries the chance to participate in this AI revolution. Open source is also crucial for ensuring AI safety, helping to promote international collaboration on technical standards, performance benchmarks, and security measures.
Today, AI is our infrastructure, much like electricity and the internet of the past. AI is reshaping supply chains and revolutionizing the way we produce and manage logistics.
Hundreds of projects in China have utilized NVIDIA Omniverse to simulate digital twins for designing and optimizing factories and warehouses. Robots are trained in the NVIDIA Omniverse virtual world to safely collaborate with humans in the physical world.
The next wave of AI will be robotic systems, equipped with reasoning and execution capabilities, capable of understanding the physical world. In the coming decade, factories will be powered by software and AI, coordinating robotic teams that collaborate with humans to produce AI-driven smart products.
AI will become the core of every industry, enterprise, product, and service. AI has sparked a new industrial revolution and brought new growth opportunities to China's outstanding supply chain ecosystem. NVIDIA will continue to collaborate with our long-term partners and many new friends to create a prosperous future together in the era of AI!
