Clear Signal: Huawei Proudly Unveils New Roadmap for Its Ascend AI Chips!

In recent years, the AI sector has witnessed exponential growth, propelling AI chips into the spotlight. NVIDIA has reaped immense benefits from this trend, emerging as the first company globally to boast a market capitalization surpassing $4 trillion.

Given that all AI models hinge on AI chips, and NVIDIA commands over 90% of the global AI chip market share, its revenue and profits have surged, naturally propelling its market capitalization to new heights.

However, due to U.S. concerns over the rise of China's AI industry, NVIDIA is barred from selling advanced AI chips to China. Instead, it can only supply significantly downgraded chips to the Chinese market, which some have likened to 'industrial scraps'.

Against this backdrop, Chinese firms have been tirelessly working to develop their own AI chips to replace NVIDIA's offerings and avoid being at the mercy of external factors.

Among these efforts, Huawei's Ascend AI chips have shone the brightest, with numerous companies opting to purchase them as direct alternatives to NVIDIA's chips.

Nevertheless, it is widely acknowledged that Huawei has not been very vocal about its Ascend chips, with limited information available online, much of which is speculative.

Recently, however, Huawei officially released the roadmap for its Ascend chips, marking the first time it has publicly outlined its plans for the Ascend series AI chips. According to the roadmap, Huawei will launch the Ascend 910C this year, followed by the Ascend 950PR in the first quarter of 2026 and the Ascend 950DT in the fourth quarter. In 2027 and 2028, it will roll out the Ascend 960 and 970, respectively, in the fourth quarter.

Furthermore, starting with the Ascend 950PR, Huawei will adopt self-developed High Bandwidth Memory (HBM), thereby eliminating reliance on foreign imports.

Thus, the signal is unmistakably clear, pointing to at least three key takeaways:

1. Looking ahead, Huawei will introduce annual product iterations to foster the maturity of domestic AI computing power and bolster the rapid advancement of AI in China.

2. Huawei's confidence in publicly disclosing the roadmap also underscores the maturity of the domestic supply chain, alleviating concerns about being held hostage or impacted by bans. Huawei has successfully navigated the entire industrial chain.

3. With Huawei's proud unveiling of the Ascend chip roadmap, it signals that the company now possesses the capability to compete head-to-head with NVIDIA, no longer needing to remain discreet or elusive.

Therefore, Huawei's official announcement this time sends a resounding message: the substitution of domestic AI chips will be an unstoppable force in the future.

And as NVIDIA's CEO Jensen Huang himself foretold, NVIDIA will eventually be caught up and surpassed by Huawei, gradually losing its foothold in the vast Chinese market. In reality, the Chinese market is nearly closed off to NVIDIA, leaving it with limited time and opportunities.
