Unitree Technology Unveils 'Superman,' Igniting a Robotics Boom!

Unitree Technology has just dropped a 30-second video showcasing 'Superman,' a humanoid robot that can execute a standing jump of 2 meters and achieve a top speed of 12.66m/s (with a leg length of 0.85 meters). This feat surpasses the global records for standing jumps and running speeds set by humans.

Unitree Technology revealed that the entire development process for this brand-new robot took just over three months, with significant potential for further enhancements in the near future.

A development timeline of just over three months is remarkable. It means that from initial design sketches to a fully functional robot capable of jumping, running, and exceeding human athletic capabilities, the entire process was completed in less than a quarter of a year. This timeline is drastically shorter than what the industry previously considered feasible. For a long time, precision robots have been perceived as products requiring meticulous refinement, with the development cycle for a mobile humanoid robot typically spanning years. Unitree Technology has now condensed this timeline to a mere quarter.

Spurred by this news, the robot concept sector saw a continued surge in the afternoon, with Riying Electronics and Jinlv Environment reaching their daily price limits. Earlier, Zhenhe Industrial, Zhongyuan Inner Parts, Beizi Technology, and Zhengyu Industrial also hit their limits, while Weike Technology, Bozhong Precision Industry, Jingcheng Corporation, and Xiangyang Bearings were among the top performers.

Furthermore, it's reported that the Second World Humanoid Robot Games are set to kick off on August 22 at the National Speed Skating Oval, known as the 'Ice Ribbon.' The event, co-hosted by the Beijing Municipal Government and China Media Group, will feature 666 teams from 16 countries across six continents, competing with 2,056 robots. This represents a 138% increase in the number of participating teams compared to the previous edition, with the number of robots quadrupling.

It's noteworthy that in April this year, the winning time for the humanoid robot half-marathon improved from 2 hours, 40 minutes, and 42 seconds recorded a year ago to an impressive 50 minutes and 26 seconds, surpassing the world record for the human half-marathon.

This underscores that 'Superman' is the latest embodiment in the rapid evolution of embodied intelligence.
