According to the latest news, Qualcomm is expected to release its new flagship mobile platform, the Snapdragon 8 Gen4, earlier this October, which undoubtedly accelerates the competition in the high-end smartphone market. Meanwhile, MediaTek is not to be outdone, planning to introduce its new flagship mobile platform, the Dimensity 9400, at the same time, with the highly anticipated vivo X200 series being the first to sport this chip.
Recently, a tech blogger exposed design sketches of the vivo X200, revealing the series' first adoption of a flat screen design.
As shown in the image, the vivo X200 features a small flat screen with a size ranging from 6.4 to 6.5 inches. This marks vivo's first introduction of a small flat screen concept in a high-end flagship, making the X200 more compact compared to the 6.78-inch screen of the previous X100, enhancing one-handed operation and portability.
Furthermore, the back of the vivo X200 sports a large circular Deco design with the flash positioned at the top right corner of the circular camera module, carrying on the design heritage of the vivo X series.
In terms of hardware specifications, the vivo X200 will come standard with the Dimensity 9400 chip, based on Arm's Cortex-X925 CPU, an advanced version of the Cortex-X4.
Official data shows that the Cortex-X925 boasts a 36% performance boost in Geekbench single-core tests and, thanks to its 3MB L2 cache, achieves a 41% improvement in AI performance.
For graphics processing, the vivo X200 is equipped with the Immortalis G925 GPU, which Arm claims to be the "most powerful and efficient" on the market.
Additionally, a tech blogger recently exposed details about the camera setup of the vivo X200 Pro. It is reported that the vivo X200 Pro undergoes a significant upgrade in its imaging system, featuring a 22nm Sony 50MP large sensor with a 1/1.28-inch photosensitive unit. Although the sensor area is reduced compared to the predecessor X100 Pro, the aperture is increased from f/1.75 to f/1.57, theoretically maintaining or even enhancing light sensitivity.
More impressively, the vivo X200 Pro also boasts a 200MP periscope telephoto lens equipped with a 1/1.4-inch high-resolution large aperture sensor, integrated with vivo's self-developed imaging chip.
Notably, vivo will simultaneously launch the X200 Pro version, with both models set to debut in October and come standard with the Dimensity 9400 flagship chip.
As a comparison, the vivo X100 series was initially equipped with the Dimensity 9300 processor, featuring an all-big-core CPU, a 12-core flagship GPU, and an APU790 with a built-in generative AI engine. The standard vivo X100 model comes with a 6.78-inch 2800x1260 Super Retina 8T curved screen with eye protection, a peak brightness of up to 3000 nits, and a new Night Owl eye protection feature. Moreover, the vivo X100 series incorporates a self-developed Blue Ocean battery, with the standard version offering an equivalent 5000mAh capacity and the Pro version boasting 5400mAh, both supporting zero-electrode fast startup, enabling the phone to boot from off to logo display in as little as 4 seconds when out of battery. In terms of imaging, the standard vivo X100 model is equipped with three 50MP cameras, including a Zeiss super telephoto lens with a periscope design and an f/2.57 ultra-large aperture for an exceptional photography experience.
Finally, based on current exposures, the vivo X200 series will include three models powered by MediaTek's Dimensity 9400 processor: the standard version, the Pro version, and a mid-sized version, while the Ultra version will feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen4 processor. Initially, based on vivo's X series imaging flagship release schedule, it was speculated that the X200 series might debut in November, but now it seems likely to be advanced to October. However, all current information about this series is still in the rumor stage, and the final design and specifications will be subject to official announcements.
In conclusion, the vivo X200 series currently boasts highly competitive configurations, particularly with the impressive offerings of the smaller model, including a large battery, a periscope telephoto lens, and wireless charging. We eagerly anticipate further revelations that may shed more light on this upcoming series.
