Nowadays, smartphones can do more and more things, but the increasing functions also bring another pressure, which is the increasing demand for battery life. Mobile phone manufacturers generally choose to improve both battery capacity and charging power. As a result, we can see that many phones now support hundreds of watts of charging power, and 6000mAh batteries will soon be widely adopted. However, this has always been a weakness of iPhone, but this situation seems to have improved somewhat in the iPhone 16 series, especially in the top-end models, where battery life has improved significantly.
Recently, foreign media published the actual test results of the battery life of the entire iPhone 16 series. It can be seen that compared to the previous generation, the battery life has improved significantly, even though the battery capacity increase is not significant. The standard version's battery life has been extended by nearly 2 hours, and the Max version has achieved a battery life of 18 hours and 6 minutes, which is 4 hours longer than the previous generation. Notably, Apple has not specifically emphasized this point, but third-party tests have willingly yielded such results.
Compared to Apple's own previous models, the battery life has improved significantly. But how does it fare against competitor models? According to the test results, the iPhone 16 Pro Max ranks third in battery life, outperforming most of the other models tested. However, the top two models both have 5500mAh batteries, indicating that the iPhone 16 Pro Max achieves slightly less impressive battery life with a significantly smaller battery capacity.
Among the models ranked from fourth to last, except for the iPhone 16 Pro, all other models have battery capacities exceeding 5000mAh, yet their battery life is inferior to that of the 16 Pro Max, especially for those ranking lower, where the gap is quite significant. This suggests that Apple has finally addressed users' long-standing complaints about the iPhone's battery life. However, many people are puzzled as to how Apple managed to enhance the battery life of the iPhone 16 series despite using smaller batteries. Since the batteries for the entire iPhone 16 series are primarily supplied by domestic manufacturers, this demonstrates significant progress in domestic mobile phone battery technology.
It is crucial to emphasize again that the battery suppliers for the iPhone 16 series also provide batteries to several leading domestic mobile phone manufacturers. They continue to adopt an L-shaped battery design with laser-cut gaps at the corners to minimize the risk of accidents in the event of battery overheating. Recent negative rumors about this aspect of the iPhone 16 series are unfounded.
Another piece of information that may be unknown to many is that certified information online indicates that the Samsung S25 Ultra's Chinese version will support satellite communication. This means that among the top flagship models sold in China, only the latest iPhone does not support satellite communication. With the iPhone 16 series already on sale, the possibility of introducing a satellite communication version is virtually non-existent. However, if the iPhone 17 series next year does not follow suit, it would be difficult to justify. Personally, I believe that the peak sales period for the iPhone 16 series will be during the upcoming Double 11 shopping festival, and it is highly likely that it will continue to dominate the charts.
Of course, the iPhone 16 series is not a must-buy. Everyone should choose based on their actual needs.
