With the successive release of new devices from Huawei and Apple, the competition for flagship products this year has kicked off. According to recent leaks, brands like Xiaomi, OPPO, OnePlus, and vivo will officially launch their new flagship devices soon.
As the release date of the new products approaches, OPPO has also started the spoiler warm-up before the launch. Meanwhile, new information about the new OPPO Find X8 has emerged online.
First, OPPO has added an innovative feature to the upcoming Find X8 series phones - AI removal of reflections in photos.
Recently, the head of OPPO's Find series announced that the OPPO Find X8 series would have the ability to remove reflections in photos. With this new feature, even photography beginners can easily capture high-quality photos.
From the provided before-and-after comparison images, it can be seen that this feature performs exceptionally well in practical applications, effectively removing reflections from photos.
Although Samsung has been using this technology on smartphones since 2022, and Huawei introduced it as early as 2020, OPPO's inclusion of this feature is undoubtedly good news for consumers.
In the coming months, we may see more devices adopting this technology.
In terms of design, the OPPO Find X8 series boasts a physically symmetrical design with four equal sides. The screen features a centered punch-hole and buttons for the flashlight and camera functions, creating a more impressive look than the iPhone 16 Pro series.
Additionally, a netizen recently shared suspected spy shots of the complete back of the OPPO Find X8 standard edition. The rear camera module sports three sensors with a redesigned camera style, differing from previous OPPO Find X7 designs. According to recent OPPO announcements, the new series is also expected to offer a pink color option, but it's unclear if this will be standard across all models.
For the display, the standard edition features a 6.5-inch 1.5K resolution straight screen, while the Pro and Pro Weitong editions sport a 6.78-inch 1.5K resolution slightly curved screen with 120Hz refresh rate, 4500nit peak brightness, and 2160Hz PWM high-frequency dimming. The Ultra edition boasts a 6.78-inch 2K resolution slightly curved screen with 144Hz refresh rate, 4500nit peak brightness, and 2160Hz PWM high-frequency dimming.
In terms of specifications, the OPPO Find X8 series will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chip. The rear camera setup includes a 50MP main camera, a 50MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 3x periscope telephoto lens. Equipped with a Glacier Battery, the battery capacity may exceed 6000mAh, offering long-lasting battery life.
Regarding battery life and charging, each model of the OPPO Find X8 series comes with 50W wireless charging and supports reverse charging. Additionally, OPPO has introduced a series of magnetic accessories, including an ultra-thin magnetic protective case, power bank, and 50W magnetic charger. The brand has confirmed that future Find series (including Find N series) devices will come standard with wireless charging, and the wireless charging ecosystem will continue to expand.
According to official sources, the OPPO Find X8 series achieves universal wireless charging thanks to the R&D team's reduction of the charging coil thickness from 0.3mm to 0.18mm without compromising charging performance, making it the thinnest design in the industry. The specially customized 0.08mm pure copper wire is thinner than previous designs, and a new coil structure has been designed, achieving optimal magnetic material lamination performance.
In terms of photography, the standard edition still adopts a rear triple-camera setup, featuring a Sony IMX882 mid-range periscope telephoto lens and a 50MP 1/1.4-inch sensor main camera. The Pro and Pro Satellite Communication editions may adopt a rear quad-camera setup, including a Sony IMX882 sensor dual-periscope setup with the same 50MP 1/1.4-inch sensor main camera. The Ultra edition is expected to feature a 50MP rear quad-camera combination, possibly abandoning the previous IMX858 small sensor for the ultra-telephoto lens.
It's worth mentioning that an AnTuTu benchmark screenshot of the OPPO Find X8 Pro Satellite Communication Edition was previously leaked online, showing a total score exceeding 3 million points, reaching 3,030,235. This is currently the highest-scoring MediaTek Dimensity 9400 processor model exposed.
Apart from hardware improvements, the OPPO Find X8 also boasts two practical new features: an infrared remote control and NFC smart card switching. The NFC smart card switching function automatically switches cards based on location, improving accuracy, for instance, by switching to a company card when near the office. Furthermore, OPPO showcased new features of the ColorOS 15 system, which rebuilds Android's graphics framework from the ground up, adopting the industry's first parallel rendering architecture for concurrent animation responses and smoother interface animations.
Finally, Mingmei Infinite noticed that after OPPO officially announced the 2024 Developer Conference scheduled for October 17, a blogger revealed that the Find X8 series could be released as early as October 21, along with the OPPO Pad 3 Pro, OPPO Enco X3, new color options for the OPPO Watch X, and magnetic ecosystem accessories.
In conclusion, both the OPPO Find X8 and ColorOS 15 promise significant product upgrades. Based on this, their actual performance is highly anticipated.
