Since the debut of the first nova series in early 2016, Huawei's nova series has garnered over 200 million users. With each new generation of nova phones, it becomes a trendsetter for the year. The new ID designs and color schemes quickly gain popularity as soon as they are released.
Today, Huawei's official Weibo account released a poster, finally unveiling the mystery of the new nova series - Huawei nova 13.
That's right, Huawei has officially announced the nova 13 series, which is expected to make its debut at the "HarmonyOS Native Night & Huawei Full-Scenario New Product Launch Event" on October 22nd.
As seen in the poster, the new phone adopts a diagonal striped back cover design, supporting multi-focal length portrait modes, AI photo editing, and Beidou satellite messaging.
Notably, the small text at the bottom right of the poster indicates that both nova 13 and nova 13 Pro support Beidou satellite messaging, making it a standard feature across the entire series.
With this feature, users can send Beidou satellite messages even in remote areas such as mountains or highlands where terrestrial network coverage is unavailable.
Moreover, according to previously leaked hardware specifications, both nova 13 and nova 13 Pro are rumored to support 100W wired fast charging. nova 13 is expected to come in 12GB+256GB and 12GB+512GB storage options, while nova 13 Pro will offer 12GB+256GB, 12GB+512GB, and 12GB+1TB versions. In terms of photography, nova 13 may feature a 60MP front camera and a rear multi-camera setup consisting of a 50MP main camera and an 8MP secondary camera. nova 13 Pro, on the other hand, is rumored to upgrade to a dual front camera setup with a 60MP main camera and an 8MP secondary camera, and a rear multi-camera module comprising a 50MP RYYB main camera, a 12MP secondary camera, and an 8MP tertiary camera.
Regarding AI capabilities, based on the existing Smart Magic Cutout feature in the previous generation and AI functions found in similar devices on the market, combined with the mention of AI photo editing in the poster, we can speculate that the Huawei nova 13 series may incorporate numerous AI technologies represented by AI photo editing, such as enhanced AI Smart Cutout and AI Cloud Enhancement, as well as other AI functions that exceed expectations. It's truly worth looking forward to.
In terms of other hardware specifications, nova 13 is rumored to be powered by the Kirin 9000S processor, while the higher-end nova 13 Pro and nova 13 Ultra are expected to be upgraded to the Kirin 9010. nova 13 Ultra may also support two-way Beidou messaging, Tiantong satellite calls, and a rear multi-camera module featuring a variable aperture main camera and a periscope telephoto secondary camera.
As for design, both nova 13 and nova 13 Pro are rumored to feature glass back covers and come in four color options: Starry Black, London Green, Feather Sand White, and Feather Sand Purple. nova 13 may adopt a centered punch-hole display with straight edges, while nova 13 Pro and nova 13 Ultra are expected to feature a multi-punch-hole curved display inspired by the "Dynamic Island" design.
Additionally, it's worth mentioning that the HarmonyOS Native Night & Huawei Full-Scenario New Product Launch Event will be held at 19:00 on October 22nd under the theme "Starry Galaxy, Witnessing HarmonyOS Together." During the event, Huawei will unveil new products from the nova series and showcase more innovative experiences of the native HarmonyOS.
Previously, Huawei's pure HarmonyOS NEXT has opened public beta applications, with the first batch of compatible devices including the Mate 60 series, Mate X5 series, and MatePad Pro 13.2-inch series. Meanwhile, eight devices, including the Pura 70, have also opened beta testing for the new system. HarmonyOS NEXT has been adapted to a large number of mainstream applications, minimizing the impact on daily use.
Finally, it is anticipated that the Huawei nova 13 series will include multiple models such as Huawei nova 13, Huawei nova 13 Pro, and Huawei nova 13 Ultra. The design revealed in the poster is likely that of the Pro or Ultra variant. Based on previous models, the starting price of the Huawei nova 13 series is expected to be below 3000 yuan, with the top-end model priced above 4000 yuan.
By the way, the Huawei Mate 70 series has reportedly entered mass production. Due to the strong sales of the previous Mate 60 series, Huawei has increased production of the Mate 70 series, which is expected to significantly boost supply speeds and launch in November.
Huawei's timely launch of the nova 13 series will compete fiercely with other new phones being released at the end of October. Meanwhile, we eagerly await the surprises that Huawei's pure HarmonyOS NEXT will bring.
