In the smartphone industry, any model will be preheated and revealed in various aspects before its release. The only difference lies in the intensity of the revelations. For popular models, the official team even has to get involved personally. As an important cost-effective model to be released, the Redmi K80 series has attracted considerable attention from users, mainly because competitors have already made their moves, and everyone is eagerly anticipating how Redmi will respond next. Last night, the head of Redmi held a live broadcast on social media, revealing quite a bit about the K80 series. Although the core details were not disclosed, with these revelations, some functional configurations can basically be guessed.
First, it was confirmed that there will be no K80E. As for why it was canceled in this generation, the outside world is unaware. According to media reports, the sales volume of K70E also reached the million-unit level, which seems acceptable. Logically, it should have been retained. Perhaps netizens will raise this issue with Wang Teng later, but for now, we can only speculate. Personally, I don't think the absence of K80E will have any impact on the series.
The K80 series will also be the first to launch with Pengpai OS 2. You may recall that Qualcomm has stated that the Snapdragon 8 Ultimate version has special optimizations for Pengpai OS. Coupled with the support of the new Rampage Engine, this makes the performance of the K80 Pro even more anticipated. Its screen and battery life will be exceptional, although the exact extent has not been specified. Previously, Wang Teng mentioned that Redmi phones will contribute to the popularization of 2K screens. It is evident that the K80 series will continue to use 2K screens, and the screen quality will surely be improved; otherwise, it would not be described as having a very strong screen.
It is also predictable that the battery life will be very strong. The Pro version will most likely come with a 6000mAh battery, while the standard version is estimated to have around 5500mAh. The imaging capabilities will also receive a major upgrade, but the emphasis is on tuning. The meaning here is also quite clear: there will not be significant changes in camera pixel count; the main upgrade will be in the sensor. For example, I previously speculated that the K80 Pro might be upgraded to the Light Hunter 900 (the upgrade for the standard version might be slightly less significant).
The appearance will also be different from the past, but it is currently unclear what the changes will be. However, based on industry trends, even if there are changes in phone appearance, they will not be major. It is expected that only minor modifications will be made. As for where significant upgrades in texture will be reflected, I personally anticipate changes due to upgraded exterior craftsmanship. The remarkably powerful performance naturally refers to the Snapdragon 8 Ultimate chip, and its benchmark scores leading those of competitors are closely related to tuning capabilities because everyone uses the same chip, and only system optimization can create a gap.
Most importantly, the official team has clearly stated that the new model's price will increase, but the exact amount has not been specified. However, if only the Pro version increases in price while the standard version remains unchanged, the price difference will be too significant, which may adversely affect Pro version sales. Therefore, there is a high probability that the price of the standard version will also increase slightly. If the top-of-the-line Pro storage exceeds 4000 yuan, then Redmi phones will have crossed another threshold.
I wonder how much anticipation everyone here has for the Redmi K80 series?
