Redmi Turbo 4 Postponed: New Design Leaked, Camera Resembles iPhone 16

After recent industry developments, it is evident that the introduction of the Redmi K80 has ignited fierce competition in the mid-range market. As competitors unveiled new models at progressively lower prices, with Snapdragon 8 Gen3 models hovering around the 2000 yuan mark, speculation arose about which upcoming device would surprise consumers with an even more competitive price. Many anticipated the upcoming Honor GT, but even more eyes were on the long-rumored Redmi Turbo 4. However, Xiaomi executives strongly hinted that the new model would not be released in December.

When asked on social media about the absence of December launch announcements, two Xiaomi executives confirmed that there would be no launch events that month. This clarification, coupled with the head of Redmi's statement that "plans have changed," made it clear that the Redmi Turbo 4's December release would be postponed, sparking widespread speculation about the reasons behind the delay.

Many believe there are two primary reasons for the postponement. Firstly, a competitor's new model priced at 2099 yuan, equipped with the Dimensity 9300+, caught Redmi off guard. Although leaks suggest that the Dimensity 8400, set to debut on Turbo 4, is highly capable and its parameters are close to those of the Snapdragon 8 Gen3 in some tests, the Dimensity 8400 cannot outperform the Dimensity 9300+. This means Turbo 4's starting price would inevitably fall below 2000 yuan. Normally, pricing is determined close to the release date, but competitors seem to have disrupted Turbo 4's pricing strategy.

Secondly, and arguably more significantly, substantial government subsidies in various regions have made the Redmi K80 available for just over 2000 yuan, boosting its appeal and sales. If Turbo 4 were released now, the subsidized price would not significantly differ from the K80, potentially affecting its market reception. To avoid disappointing sales, Turbo 4's release was postponed.

Additionally, a set of images of the Xiaomi POCO X7 Pro has been leaked online. While some may wonder about its relevance to Redmi Turbo 4, given POCO X7 Pro's non-domestic release, there is a connection. The previous generation POCO X6 Pro, released overseas, was considered a renamed version of the Redmi K70E. Similarly, Turbo 4 is believed to replace the missing K80E this year, making POCO X7 Pro the overseas renamed version of Turbo 4 as an upgraded model.

Noticeably, the camera setup of POCO X7 Pro is arranged vertically and closely together, strikingly similar to the iPhone 16. As a mobile phone manufacturer aiming to compete with Apple, such similarities in design style are not surprising. While some suggest Turbo 4 might need a redesign, I personally believe that is unnecessary. The postponement is likely due to the need to reassess marketing strategies.

Regarding pricing, considering competitors' actions, I personally believe Turbo 4's starting price may be set at 1799 yuan. What do you think?
