E-commerce can do almost everything
Domestic e-commerce is embracing everything.
On September 26, according to a late report, Taobao Tmall will soon officially access JD Logistics, which is expected to be launched in mid-October. After that, when Taobao Tmall merchants choose the delivery method of goods in the system, they will have another option of JD Logistics. At the same time, JD.com will also access Cainiao Express and Cainiao Station, which are Cainiao's self-operated express brand and package collection station respectively.
Correspondingly, JD.com will also officially access Alipay payment, which is expected to be launched on the eve of Singles' Day. At present, when consumers place orders on JD.com, the default payment method is ranked in order of JD Pay, UnionPay QuickPass, WeChat Pay, etc.
It is reported that both parties have reached an agreement on logistics and payment cooperation today.
This is the greatest handshake between Alibaba and JD.com, two e-commerce platforms, in more than 20 years since their establishment. For many years, the two companies have been competing and guarding against each other, using traffic, commissions, subsidies, etc. to compete for merchants and consumers. They have competed in marketing public opinion and established independent systems with high walls such as logistics and payment. They have grown up together all the way, and then encountered younger common opponents in the previous few years.
At this point, the infrastructure of several of China's largest Internet platforms has almost truly become a general commercial infrastructure.
In addition to Alibaba and JD.com shaking hands and making peace, Taobao's tentacles also reach further.
According to media reports, Alibaba held a press conference on Taobao's Hong Kong business in Hong Kong, announcing that Taobao will invest 1 billion yuan to turn Hong Kong into a free shipping area. Starting from October 1, a limited-time free shipping service to Hong Kong will be launched for orders over 99 yuan. The project is responsible for investment promotion by Taobao Tmall, and Ali International is responsible for user operation and logistics in Hong Kong.
According to the information provided by Taobao, there are three ways for merchants to ship goods overseas or to Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan in China: official consolidated shipping, official direct delivery, and merchants/consumers finding logistics carriers that can deliver overseas or to Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan by themselves. The specific mode is selected when the buyer places an order.
Half a year ago in March, Taobao jointly promoted the Xinjiang Free Shipping Experience Improvement Plan with merchants. At present, the first batch has provided tens of millions of free shipping products for Xinjiang users and collected them into the "Xinjiang Free Shipping" channel on the homepage of Taobao.
Ye Jianqiu, general manager of Taobao Tmall Overseas Business Department, also said in an interview with the media: "Judging from the growth of free shipping orders in Hong Kong, the free shipping service is very popular among Hong Kong consumers. We hope to cover a wider range of categories and make users buy more happily. This discount is entirely the investment of Taobao Hong Kong station, which fully reflects our emphasis on and confidence in the Hong Kong market. In the future, we will continue to launch more localized initiatives to continuously improve the shopping experience of consumers."
