Recently, the 407th batch of new vehicles listed in the MIIT (Ministry of Industry and Information Technology) filings has unveiled a lineup of highly anticipated models. The six featured vehicles—Mercedes-Benz GLE L, SAIC Volkswagen ID.ERA 5S, XPeng MONA L03, XPeng MONA L05, Beijing Hyundai Ioniq V, and Shenxing 8—made a collective appearance. Among them are several significant new models being produced domestically for the first time. Next, we will delve into each one in detail.

Domestically Produced Mercedes-Benz GLE L

In the latest 407th batch of filing catalogs, the domestically produced long-wheelbase version of the Mercedes-Benz GLE from Beijing Benz made a striking debut through filing images.

Positioned as a mid-to-large luxury SUV, the new vehicle maintains Mercedes’ classic family design, exuding a distinct German luxury aesthetic. According to official disclosures, the vehicle’s dimensions are 5051mm × 2018mm × 1784mm, with the wheelbase extended by 120mm to 3115mm, which is 10mm longer than the domestically produced BMW X5L.

In terms of intelligence and configuration, the GLE L demonstrates considerable commitment to innovation. The Mercedes-Benz GLE L is expected to feature the new MBUX system inside, boasting three standard 12.3-inch screens, an intelligent AI assistant, and a Burmester sound system, creating an atmosphere of luxury and cutting-edge technology.

The new vehicle offers two powertrain options: 2.0T and 3.0T, both equipped with a standard 48V mild hybrid system and a 9AT transmission, paired with a 4MATIC all-wheel-drive layout.

In the BBA (BMW, Benz, Audi) lineup, the domestic market for luxury mid-to-large SUVs previously only featured the BMW X5L from Huachen BMW. Now, with the addition of the domestically produced Mercedes-Benz GLE L, consumers have a new option to consider.

SAIC Volkswagen ID.ERA 5S

Recently, official images and filing information for the SAIC Volkswagen ID.ERA 5S have been revealed, with an expected launch in the second half of the year.

It is reported that the SAIC Volkswagen ID.ERA 5S is positioned as a mid-size plug-in hybrid sedan. From the official images, the new vehicle continues the design language of the ID.ERA family, featuring simple and smooth body lines, a balanced and dynamic appearance, and a strong classic "Volkswagen flavor." Official information shows that the ID.ERA 5S measures 4836mm × 1880mm × 1505mm, with a wheelbase of 2766mm, making it larger than the Lamando and with a 3.5 cm longer wheelbase.

Notably, the ID.ERA 5S is Volkswagen’s first global sedan to support urban NOA (Navigate on Autopilot), featuring standard "Xingyun Intelligent Driving," "Yunqi Intelligent Cockpit," and exclusive intelligent driving blue lights on the exterior mirrors and taillights.

Meanwhile, the 1.5T plug-in hybrid system equipped in the ID.ERA 5S is also a major highlight. According to official information, the plug-in hybrid system achieves a maximum pure electric range of 160km under CLTC conditions, with a combined range exceeding 2000km and a fuel consumption of only 2.82L/100km when running low on electricity, placing it at an excellent level among its peers.

Overall, the ID.ERA 5S will primarily target the 150,000-yuan home-use plug-in hybrid sedan market. Compared to other mid-size plug-in hybrid sedans, the ID.ERA 5S’s craftsmanship, materials, quality control, and outstanding mechanical feel will be major selling points, appealing to consumers who prefer German handling.

XPeng MONA L03

The XPeng MONA L03 recently appeared in the MIIT’s new car filing catalog. As the first coupe SUV in the MONA series, it offers both pure electric and extended-range powertrain options.

From the filing images, the new vehicle continues the design language of the MONA family, featuring rounded and smooth body lines and an overall streamlined design that outlines a youthful and dynamic stance. Filing data shows that the vehicle measures 4672mm × 1920mm × 1600mm, with a wheelbase of 2850mm, giving it a significant advantage in wheelbase compared to models like the XPeng G6 and BYD Song PLUS.

The new vehicle’s intelligence is a major highlight, following XPeng’s high-end pure vision intelligent driving route and equipped with the XPeng VLA2.0 intelligent driving system, with top-tier software configuration specifications.

In terms of powertrain configuration, the extended-range version is equipped with a 1.5L range extender and a 183 kW drive motor, with a WLTC pure electric range of approximately 240-260km. The pure electric version adopts a single-motor layout, with a significant increase in motor power compared to the 140kW and 160kW motors in the MONA M03.

It is reported that the XPeng MONA L03 will primarily target the 100,000-150,000 yuan compact home-use coupe SUV market, with its superior wheelbase space, high-end intelligent driving, and dual powertrain layout as core selling points, appealing to young family users who value practical value and technological experience.

XPeng MONA L05

The filing information for the XPeng MONA L05 has been officially revealed. The new vehicle is positioned as a mid-to-large coupe SUV, offering both pure electric and extended-range powertrains, with an expected launch within the year.

The new vehicle adopts the design language of the XPeng family, with dimensions reaching 4870 × 1930 × 1636mm and a wheelbase of 2940mm, making it larger in length, height, and wheelbase compared to the XPeng G6 and MONA L03. The overall appearance is similar to the MONA L03, with soft lines outlining a coupe SUV stance and a relatively composed style, clearly indicating its pure electric nature.

The XPeng MONA L05 offers both extended-range and pure electric powertrains. The pure electric version is equipped with a 183 kW single motor; the extended-range version features a 70 kW 1.5L range extender matched with a 37.2kWh battery pack, providing a WLTC pure electric range of 253km.

The MONA series is positioned as XPeng’s main product line, with pricing expected to remain competitive. The MONA L05, with its spacious rear seats and dual powertrains as core selling points, could become a new sales driver for XPeng if the final pricing is reasonable.

Beijing Hyundai Ioniq V

The Beijing Hyundai Ioniq V, the first model from Hyundai’s IONIQ brand, has officially appeared in the MIIT catalog. Designed by Hyundai’s China Design Center, it supports both pure electric and extended-range powertrains.

As soon as the filing images were released, some netizens questioned its unconventional design. With a cyber-aesthetic, sharp-edged body lines, and a sleek back profile, the style is unique and is expected to turn heads. Some comments even noted, "While domestic car designs are generally improving, the Ioniq V seems to be going backward."

Despite the appearance controversies, the new vehicle has significant size advantages, measuring 4900 × 1890 × 1470mm with a wheelbase of 2950mm, nearly 20cm longer than the Model Y and larger than the BYD Song L.

The interior is equipped with a 27-inch 4K screen, HUD head-up display, and powered by a Qualcomm flagship chip, integrating Baidu’s Wenxin Yiyan and Doubao AI large models, and adopting Momenta’s intelligent driving solution.

The new vehicle is based on Hyundai’s exclusive E-GMP pure electric platform, equipped with 140kW and 168kW rear-mounted single motors, matched with CATL lithium iron phosphate batteries, and supports 800V high-voltage fast charging across all variants.

After many years, Beijing’s Ioniq series has finally been localized. While its intelligence and electric powertrain configurations are impressive, whether this aggressive design language can appeal to mainstream consumers remains to be seen. This design may pose a challenge for the Ioniq V in attracting customers.

Shenxing 8

Shenxing 8, the first model from Chery’s new luxury new energy brand jointly established with Jaguar Land Rover, has been filed with the MIIT. Positioned as a 400,000-600,000 yuan luxury tech all-terrain SUV, it is expected to be officially released in the second half of this year.

From the official images, the new vehicle continues the classic boxy rugged design, with a solid and heavy body stance, straight and robust lines, and distinct edges. The closed front fascia paired with a matrix headlight group exudes a composed aura. The flat roof and upright tail complement each other, enhancing the tech-savvy appearance. Public information reveals that the new vehicle measures 5118 × 2050 × 1898mm, with a wheelbase of 3040mm, making it larger than mainstream large SUVs like the Li Auto L9 and Seres M9, with an impressive wheelbase.

The new vehicle is built on the newly developed iMax platform architecture of the FREELANDER Shenxing brand, supporting multiple powertrains including pure electric, extended-range, and plug-in hybrid, with the domestic market primarily focusing on the 800V high-voltage extended-range version. It is the first to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8397 automotive chip, significantly boosting computing power and enabling smoother interactions.

Notably, the new vehicle’s intelligent driving will be equipped with Huawei’s Qiankun ADS4.1 system, featuring an 896-line LiDAR, paired with the i-ATS all-terrain system and "three locks," balancing high-end intelligent driving and rugged off-road performance. In terms of range, the extended-range version offers a CLTC combined range exceeding 1200km and a pure electric range exceeding 200km, supporting 6C fast charging for exceptional energy replenishment efficiency.

Overall, the core selling points of the Shenxing 8 are its rugged off-road heritage, Huawei’s high-end intelligent driving, and a solid electric powertrain system. In short, a Range Rover that understands China better is here.
