Recently, Qichemen.com unveiled the automobile complaint index for June 2026. During this month, the overall complaint index on the platform reached 14,586.1, showing a slight month-on-month decline of 0.41%, which can be considered essentially stable compared to the previous month. However, a notable trend emerged among the top 10 automakers listed, with most experiencing varying degrees of increases in their complaint indices, indicating a heightened concentration of complaints compared to May. Within the top 10 complaint list for June, there was an even split between five joint-venture automakers and five local automakers. BYD claimed the top spot, despite its complaint index experiencing a minor 4.25% month-on-month decrease; nonetheless, its overall complaint index remained notably higher than those of other automakers on the list. SAIC-GM Buick, FAW-Audi, Changan Automobile, and GAC Honda rounded out the top five. Complaints about these automakers primarily centered around recurring issues, with no new significant complaints arising. Below is a detailed analysis of the automobile complaint indices for June 2026:
Rank 1: BYD - Complaint Index: 1,535
Typical Faults: Discriminatory Warranty Policies, Reduced Motor Power Post-Upgrades
Auto Quality Complaint Review: In June, BYD's complaint index continued its downward trajectory. Complaint feedback highlighted that reduced motor power following upgrades remained BYD's most significant issue. Concurrently, the lifetime warranty policy for the three electric components of the BYD Datang, introduced in mid-June, triggered dissatisfaction among numerous Tang L owners. These owners demanded that the warranty policy for the Tang L align with that of the Datang.
Rank 2: SAIC-GM Buick - Complaint Index: 730.35
Typical Faults: Instrument Panel Cracking, Fuel Pump Module Failure, Steering Stuttering and Noise
Auto Quality Complaint Review: After a two-month hiatus, SAIC-GM Buick re-entered the top five of the complaint list. This month, its complaint index surged by 30%, yet no new significant complaints emerged. Complaint feedback indicated that SAIC-GM Buick's primary issues persisted as long-standing problems, including instrument panel cracking, fuel pump module failure, and steering stuttering and noise.
Rank 3: FAW-Audi - Complaint Index: 714.8
Typical Faults: Gearbox Computer Board Failure, Tire Cracking
Auto Quality Complaint Review: In recent months, FAW-Audi's complaint index has exhibited a steady upward trend. After rejoining the top five last month, it ascended further to third place this month. Complaint feedback pointed to gearbox electromechanical unit failures as a direct contributor. In June, such failures in the Audi Q3 once again sparked owner dissatisfaction. Simultaneously, the issue of cracking Hankook tires on certain Audi A3, Audi Q3, and Audi A4L models exacerbated complaints from more owners.
Rank 4: Changan Automobile - Complaint Index: 688.2
Typical Faults: Infotainment System Lag/No Upgrades, Gearbox Jerking/Fault Light Illumination
Auto Quality Complaint Review: This month, Changan Automobile's overall complaint index experienced a slight increase but remained generally stable with no concentrated complaint incidents. Complaint feedback revealed that Changan Automobile's issues were relatively widespread and lacked concentration. Infotainment system lag and the absence of upgrades, along with gearbox electromechanical unit failures, remained the two most frequently complained-about issues. Notably, multiple Changan UNI-V iDD owners reported repeated high-temperature failures in the vehicle's gearbox this month.
Rank 5: GAC Honda - Complaint Index: 671.25
Typical Faults: Engine Noise, Sunshade Clip Breakage, Timing Belt Fuzzing
Auto Quality Complaint Review: In June, GAC Honda's complaint index rose by 20% month-on-month, propelling it into the top five. However, complaint data indicated that GAC Honda's issues were relatively dispersed, with no concentrated complaints, and primarily revolved around recurring problems. Engine noise in the Fit, sunshade clip breakage in the Breeze, and timing belt fuzzing in the Crider remained the three most frequently complained-about issues for GAC Honda.
