Recently, the automotive industry has been abuzz with several high-profile events that have captured the attention of consumers. As these incidents unfolded, the automakers involved swiftly responded to customer feedback, implementing relevant solutions. The first event concerns delivery delays at IM Motors dealerships, affecting some vehicle owners. The issue emerged when authorized IM Motors dealerships in Kunming, Zhuhai, and other locations abruptly closed, leaving some customers unable to take delivery of their vehicles despite having made payments. This raised significant concerns regarding vehicle delivery and after-sales service. In response, Jiao Qiao, Senior Director of Brand and User Operations at IM Motors, explained that the closures in Yunnan and Zhuhai were linked to the same investor's operational issues. Some customers were enticed by dealer promises, such as a "RMB 50,000 rebate for late delivery," only to face delays due to the dealer's financial troubles. Jiao Qiao assured that IM Motors would honor confirmed user orders, safeguard consumer purchasing rights, and address delivery issues for affected customers. Given the substantial number of orders involved, specific details are still being finalized.

The second event involves rumors of "battery locking" in MG vehicles, sparking concerns among owners about battery performance. Recently, a short-video blogger claimed that the new MG4 family models had their battery capacity "locked" through software restrictions, leading to widespread discussion. In response, MG issued an official statement denying these allegations, stating that the brand complies with national regulations and industry standards, ensuring that all product technical parameters are lawful and compliant. They urged consumers to rely on official information channels for accurate details.
In fact, the controversy over "battery locking" is not new in the new energy vehicle industry. Previously, some models faced scrutiny over range changes and performance issues due to battery system adjustments or software updates, leading to consumer concerns about battery performance when similar claims surfaced. However, there is no evidence to support the "battery locking" allegations against MG models. Netizens have mixed views on the controversy. Some argue that "battery locking" is distinct from natural battery degradation and may stem from misunderstandings, while others dismiss the rumors as baseless. With MG's official denial and clarification, some consumer concerns have been alleviated. Nevertheless, as battery technology directly affects vehicle range and user experience, some consumers still hope MG will provide further information.
The third event involves air suspension failures in the XPENG X9, impacting some owners' vehicle usage. Owners reported issues such as air suspension leaks and body sagging in high summer temperatures, which even disrupted normal use. For instance, a Chongqing-based X9 owner stated that the vehicle's alarm activated after several hours of parking in high temperatures, followed by rear-end sagging, rendering the vehicle undriveable and necessitating a tow. In response to these air suspension failures, XPENG Motors introduced a specialized warranty upgrade for the X9's air springs, extending the warranty to 8 years or 160,000 kilometers, regardless of ownership changes. This provides owners with long-term usage assurance and reduces maintenance burdens. For mid-to-large new energy MPVs like the XPENG X9, air suspension significantly impacts comfort and driving experience, making it a crucial quality indicator for users.
It is commendable that IM Motors, MG, and XPENG promptly responded to user feedback and took appropriate measures, reflecting their commitment to addressing user concerns and their proactive problem-solving attitude, as well as their sense of responsibility in customer service. IM Motors ensured delivery rights through guaranteed order processing, MG alleviated battery concerns via official statements, and XPENG provided long-term usage assurance through extended warranties. As the automotive market enters a phase of intense competition, consumers focus not only on products, prices, and configurations but also on brands' responsiveness, service capabilities, and problem-resolution effectiveness. Automakers' ability to promptly address user concerns and handle issues properly will not only impact consumers' actual experiences but also influence brand reputation and long-term market influence.
