As August commenced, mainstream domestic automakers started to unveil their sales figures for July. Data reveals that BYD, Chery, and Geely maintained their positions as the top three in sales among independent brands. BYD led the pack with 419,211 units sold, followed by Chery Group with 276,820 units, securing the second spot. Geely Automobile set a new record for the same period, selling 250,161 units and ranking third. Changan Automobile and Great Wall Motor sold 207,100 and 108,067 units, respectively. 
1st Place: BYD - Total Sales: 419,211 Units | Overseas Sales: 179,841 Units
Despite the automotive market's off-season, BYD sustained steady growth, selling 419,211 units in July, marking a 21.8% year-on-year increase and its third consecutive month of positive growth. Within its brand portfolio, the Wangchao (Dynasty) and Ocean Networks, as BYD's core pillars, jointly sold 350,000 units, accounting for over 85% of the group's total sales. The Fangchengbao brand, tailored for personalized off-roading, excelled with 41,000 units sold in July, a 190% year-on-year surge. The Denza brand delivered 19,000 units, while the Yangwang brand sold 485 units, both firmly establishing their positions in the high-end MPV and ultra-luxury market segments, respectively.
In overseas markets, BYD's growth momentum remained robust, with 179,841 units sold in July, representing over 40% of the group's total sales and a 124.3% year-on-year increase. The pace of global expansion continues to accelerate. NEV sales also performed well, with cumulative sales reaching 1,777,375 units, albeit a 15.89% year-on-year decrease, including 867,479 battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and 909,896 plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs). From a sales structure perspective, BYD is no longer solely reliant on the mainstream family market, with overseas markets and high-end brands emerging as new growth engines. With the integration of second-generation Blade Batteries and flash-charging technology into more products, along with new product iterations and continued deepening of its overseas layout, BYD is poised to maintain its lead in the global NEV market in the second half of the year, further expanding its industry-leading advantage and narrowing the sales decline from the first half of the year. 
2nd Place: Chery Group - Total Sales: 276,820 Units | Overseas Sales: 202,533 Units
In July, Chery Group's sales reached 276,820 units, a 23.3% year-on-year increase, boasting the highest growth rate among the top five independent automakers. Regarding brand breakdown, Chery and Jetour remained the group's sales pillars, with cumulative sales of 223,723 units, accounting for 84.43% of the total. The Hongmeng Zhixing (Harmony Intelligence) brand sold 10,709 units, a 93.3% month-on-month increase, showcasing strong growth momentum. The iCAR brand sold 9,068 units, a 13.3% month-on-month decrease. The Exeed brand, positioned in the mid-to-high-end market, delivered 8,376 units, a 23.9% month-on-month increase, indicating a steady recovery trend.
In overseas markets, Chery Group shone brightly, with exports reaching 202,533 units in July, a 70.1% year-on-year increase, making it the first Chinese automaker to exceed 200,000 monthly exports, demonstrating strong international competitiveness. The NEV sector also performed well, with sales reaching 129,067 units, a 97.5% year-on-year increase, injecting new momentum into the group's development. 
3rd Place: Geely Automobile - Total Sales: 250,161 Units | Overseas Sales: 106,663 Units
Geely Automobile delivered 250,161 units in July, marking five consecutive months of year-on-year and month-on-month growth. NEV sales reached 160,165 units, a 23% year-on-year increase, accounting for 64% of total sales, showcasing significant progress in its electrification transformation. Among the brands, Geely's main brand contributed 197,942 units, Geely Galaxy sold 107,797 units, including the star model Xingyuan, which sold over 55,105 units, with cumulative sales exceeding 800,000 units. Zeekr and Lynk & Co delivered 35,837 and 16,382 units, respectively.
Meanwhile, the China Star series sold 90,145 units, with several classic models maintaining stable sales. Overseas performance was even more impressive, with Geely selling 106,663 units overseas in July, a 202% year-on-year surge, including 62,604 NEV exports, a 616% year-on-year increase. This indicates that Geely's global布局 (strategy) has officially shifted from traditional fuel vehicle exports to large-scale NEV product exports. 
4th Place: Changan Automobile - Total Sales: 207,100 Units | Overseas Sales: 82,300 Units
In July, Changan Automobile's total sales reached 207,100 units, including 96,500 NEVs delivered, a 28.8% year-on-year increase. NEVs have become the core driver of its growth. Regarding brand breakdown, Qiyuan and Shenlan formed the foundation of Changan's NEV growth. Qiyuan sold 39,841 units in July, a 7.5% year-on-year increase, with its AQ series up 103% year-on-year, doubling its sales. The blockbuster model, the all-new Qiyuan Q05, has delivered over 100,000 units cumulatively.
Shenlan Automobile delivered 29,213 units, a 79.1% year-on-year increase, with cumulative global sales exceeding 910,000 units. Additionally, the all-new Shenlan S05 will officially launch on August 6, expected to further broaden Shenlan's product lineup and tap into the potential of the young consumer market. Overseas momentum remained strong, with 82,300 units delivered in July, a 79.1% year-on-year increase, marking six consecutive months of year-on-year growth, effectively highlighting the success of the brand's "global vision" strategy. 
5th Place: Great Wall Motor - Total Sales: 108,067 Units | Overseas Sales: 62,015 Units
Great Wall Motor's sales reached 108,067 units in July, a 3.5% year-on-year increase. Achieving positive growth during the industry off-season is no easy feat, but performance varied significantly across its brands. Haval, as Great Wall's sales leader, saw a slight 0.09% year-on-year increase to 56,272 units, accounting for 52.07% of total sales.
Meanwhile, its new flagship SUV, the Great Wall H10, will launch on August 5. According to the official, pre-orders for the new model exceeded 22,615 units within 12 hours of opening, expected to become a new growth driver for the Haval brand. Pickup trucks performed relatively steadily, selling 16,006 units, a 16.22% year-on-year increase. Ora sales surged 151.63% year-on-year to 10,820 units, with the Ora 5 becoming the sales mainstay. Two new sporty hatchback models, the Ora 5 Sport and Ora 5 GT, will also be launched this year. Wey and Tank faced downward pressure, with Wey's sales down 23.10% year-on-year to 7,725 units and Tank's sales down 13.95% year-on-year to 17,228 units. With increasing competition in the off-road segment and brands like Fangchengbao gaining momentum, Tank faces significant market pressure. Additionally, Great Wall's overseas performance was notable, with 62,015 units sold in July, a 3.07% month-on-month and 50.9% year-on-year increase, exceeding 60,000 units for the second consecutive month, with exports accounting for 57.4% of total sales, a new high, as its globalization pace steadily advances.
