Recently, XPENG Motors unveiled its financial results for the first half of the year. Despite an improvement in its comprehensive gross profit margin, the company still reported significant losses. Let's delve into the specific figures.
The company's total revenue stood at 32.78 billion yuan, marking a 3.8% year-on-year decrease. Revenue from automotive sales was 28.05 billion yuan, down 10.3% from the same period last year. In contrast, revenue from services and other businesses surged by 67.1% year-on-year to reach 4.73 billion yuan. The decline in XPENG Motors' total revenue was primarily attributed to a year-on-year decrease in delivery volume and a drop in the average selling price per vehicle. The net loss amounted to 3.12 billion yuan, compared to a loss of 1.14 billion yuan in the same period last year.
It is clear that XPENG Motors' losses have widened further in the first half of this year. The sole bright spot in XPENG Motors' financial report for the first half of the year was a notable year-on-year increase in the comprehensive gross profit margin, which reached 20.6%, with the service sector's gross profit margin soaring by 71.4%. Nevertheless, the gross profit margin per vehicle was only 12.1%, slightly lower than the same period last year.

As of the end of June this year, XPENG Motors' cumulative losses since its inception have amounted to 45.91 billion yuan. However, the company currently boasts cash reserves of 40.48 billion yuan, suggesting that it should not face significant financial pressure in the short term.
Analyzing XPENG Motors' sales performance for the first half of the year, it is apparent that the second quarter was particularly strong. Cumulative deliveries reached 103,300 units, reflecting a 64.8% quarter-on-quarter increase. The net loss was 1.34 billion yuan, also showing a quarter-on-quarter reduction. Overseas sales reached 20,000 units, marking an 81% year-on-year increase.
Looking ahead, XPENG Motors' Chairman He Xiaopeng has set a clear target of exceeding 60,000 monthly sales.

On August 24, during the financial report conference call, Chairman He Xiaopeng disclosed that in the third quarter of this year, the company's new order lock-in data experienced a sequential increase of over 50%, reaching a record high. He also mentioned that the consecutive successes of the GX and MONA L03 models have bolstered XPENG Motors' confidence in its subsequent products. The large 5-seater flagship SUV, the G9L, is set to be launched, with deliveries commencing in September. In the fourth quarter, the all-new model, the MONA L05, will also be officially introduced. With the launch of four new SUV models, He Xiaopeng anticipates a significant surge in XPENG Motors' sales in the fourth quarter, aiming to surpass the 60,000 monthly sales mark.
Speaking of which, we must examine XPENG Motors' July sales data. Only one model, the XPENG MONA M03, sold over 10,000 units, with 10,237 vehicles sold, representing a 30% month-on-month decrease. It fell 7 places in the domestic sedan sales rankings, landing at 14th place.
Another key model, the XPENG GX, sold 7,106 units in July, reflecting a 5.5% month-on-month increase. It maintained its position at 5th place in the domestic large SUV sales rankings.

Regarding the success of the MONA L03 mentioned by He Xiaopeng, its true success remains debatable according to CheKuaiping. This model, launched on July 16th, sold only 2,870 units in half a month, ranking 89th in the domestic SUV sales rankings. However, XPENG officially announced that within 7 minutes of its launch, over 20,000 orders were confirmed, and within an hour, nearly 47,000 orders were confirmed. Whether this model truly achieves success will be validated by sales data in the next two to three months.
As for XPENG Motors' high-end models, July sales were lackluster. For instance, the XPENG G9 sold only 558 units, the lowest among all XPENG models. The XPENG X9, after experiencing a month-on-month sales decline for four consecutive months, sold only 988 units in July, hitting a new low in recent months.
Finally, based on XPENG Motors' current sales performance, do you believe the company can successfully achieve the goal of 60,000 monthly sales in the fourth quarter of this year? Feel free to leave a comment and engage in the discussion in the comment section.
