According to Bloomberg, insiders privy to the matter have disclosed that Tesla intends to temporarily suspend certain production lines at its Shanghai Gigafactory for approximately three weeks during the Chinese Lunar New Year holiday. This move aims to optimize equipment and pave the way for the production of the revamped Model Y.

Specifically, sources indicate that some of the production lines dedicated to the new Model Y will be idled from January 22 to February 14. Additionally, Tesla plans to halt the production of Model 3 in specific areas from January 26 to February 3.

In response to these developments, Tesla China has yet to issue a comment.

In 2024, Tesla delivered 480,309 Model Y vehicles in China, marking a 5% year-on-year increase, solidifying its position as the best-selling passenger vehicle in the country.

At the dawn of 2025, on January 10, Tesla unveiled the refreshed Model Y on its official Chinese website, simultaneously commencing presales. Priced starting at 263,500 yuan, this represents an increase of 12,600 to 13,600 yuan compared to the previous version, with deliveries anticipated to commence in March.
