Is the next track for mobile phone photography sports photography?

Recently, the Huawei Pura 70 series was launched, sparking a heated discussion online. With the new phone's release, digital bloggers naturally purchased and reviewed it. Focusing on the Pura 70 series's sports snapshot function "Fengchi Flash Shot," a blogger compared it with the Eagle Eye Capture of the Honor Magic 6 series, and subsequently, Huawei Terminal BG CTO Li Xiaolong commented on the comparison video on WeChat Moments.

Jiang Hairong, the CMO of Honor China, tweeted that the Magic 6 series and the Pura 70 series have advantages in different scenarios, with each showing strengths and weaknesses. The concept of snapshot capture for both products also has similarities.

The significance of mobile phone snapshot functions lies in helping users capture精彩瞬间, such as speeding cars, leaping animals, dancing women, etc., able to highlight the vivid and natural expressive power of things. However, the camera does not record a single moment, but the process of object movement within the exposure time. If the exposure time is too long, the resulting photo will appear blurry.

When recording high-speed moving objects, we may need to adjust the shutter speed to fractions of a second to thousandths of a second. But if the exposure time is too short, the amount of incoming light will be less, posing a challenge to the dynamic range, focusing ability, and light sensitivity of mobile phones.

Honor has long noticed the importance of snapshot capture. The Magic 5 series first introduced the Eagle Eye Capture function, while the Magic 6 Ultimate Edition adopted a single-lens reflex-level Eagle Eye camera system, featuring an ultra-dynamic camera based on LOFIC technology with a dynamic range of up to 15EV. The 1200-point laser focusing system can significantly improve focusing speed and accuracy.

In addition, the Magic 6 series also introduced an "Ultra-Sensitive" optical technology solution, combining a hyperdimensional sensor with image overspeed caching to ensure good snapshot clarity even in low-light conditions. Honor also stated that the Eagle Eye Capture function of the Magic 6 series has undergone AI big model training, possessing advanced AI capture algorithms that can predict and capture clear images.

Huawei, on the other hand, uses a super-converging light solution, employing a super-converging telescopic camera and an ultra-large physical aperture hardware. On the software side, it relies on AI vector calculation algorithms paired with a dual-exposure strategy, capturing one short-exposure and one long-exposure image during shooting. The short-exposure is used to capture object details, while the long-exposure preserves rich background information, and then generates high-quality photos through AI calculations.

Both Honor and Huawei aim to increase the amount of incoming light to ensure that the sensor can receive sufficient information in a short time and optimize shooting performance through algorithms. The goal of both mobile phone manufacturers is to provide users with single-lens reflex-level snapshot performance, indicating that the two major phone manufacturers have a similar understanding of snapshot capture.

Honor and Huawei, the two major manufacturers, have taken the lead in this field, bringing Eagle Eye Capture and Fengchi Flash Shot through the combination of hardware and software, and have become leaders in the snapshot race. With the efforts of mobile phone manufacturers in optimization, it is believed that in the future, the sports photography capabilities of Honor, Huawei, and other mobile phone manufacturers will continue to improve.
