Foxconn Worker Claims Apple Eased iPhone Duo Quality Checks; Insider Denies Reduction in Yield Rate Standards

Kuaikeji, October 27th news—Since the iPhone Duo was released offline on October 23rd, problems such as 'bright lines appearing on the iPhone Duo's screen and inner screen cracking' have continued to fuel intense debates.

A recent teardown report on the iPhone Duo released by iFixit suggests that the primary cause of these malfunctions may stem from the hinge structure. Specifically, when the phone is closed, if the central support rod does not retract correctly, it places undue pressure on the inner screen.

Additionally, the curved guide rail, which is responsible for facilitating the hinge's movement, may rise above adjacent components during the folding process. Any abnormal movement of the guide rail could potentially scratch or compress the screen.

According to media reports, a Foxconn employee's assessment of the screen failure causes aligns closely with the aforementioned analysis.

This Foxconn employee further disclosed that, under the pressure of tight production schedules, Apple had previously relaxed certain quality inspection standards related to yield rates to maintain supply levels, thereby increasing the chances of defective screens reaching the market.

He also mentioned that, in response to these issues, the iPhone Duo production line has promptly replaced a batch of materials. Presently, actual production remains unaffected, and restocking strategies have not been altered.

However, another insider with knowledge of the supply chain clarified externally that Apple has not internally lowered its quality inspection yield rate standards.

Meanwhile, Apple has issued an official statement addressing the recent screen failure issues with the iPhone Duo.

Apple stated, 'The initial reception from users of the iPhone Duo has been overwhelmingly positive. At present, we have observed that a minuscule number of iPhone Duo inner screens have encountered some problems.'

Furthermore, Apple officially advised, 'Should users experience any display issues with the iPhone Duo, they are encouraged to contact AppleCare for a replacement.'
