Is the Xiaomi Automobile lineup set to expand with a slew of new models?
According to the official website of the China Trademark Office under the National Intellectual Property Administration, Xiaomi Technology Co., Ltd. submitted a batch of eight trademark applications at the beginning of the year. The proposed trademarks include Xiaomi SU7 LUX, Xiaomi SU9 LUX, Xiaomi YU9, Xiaomi SU9, Xiaomi SU8, Xiaomi YU8, Xiaomi SU7 GT, and Xiaomi GT.

In addition to carrying forward the SU8, SU9, YU8, and YU9 designations from previous series, there are also four special variants: LUX and GT.
The GT designation is already familiar to Xiaomi Automobile enthusiasts. In May of this year, Xiaomi unveiled the Xiaomi YU7 GT. Hence, the introduction of a GT version for the SU7 comes as no surprise.
As for the LUX moniker, some netizens speculate that it is likely an abbreviation for "Luxury," hinting at Xiaomi's potential launch of two high-end luxury models. The use of the number '9' is a common practice among domestic new energy brands to denote flagship models. This suggests that the SU9 LUX could be positioned as an executive luxury flagship sedan.
According to the 1986th issue of the Trademark Gazette, the Xiaomi SU9 LUX trademark has entered the preliminary approval phase, with an opposition period scheduled from June 7, 2026, to September 6, 2026.

Meanwhile, spy shots of Xiaomi's upcoming vehicles have been circulating online recently.
Several automotive bloggers have reported that the SU9, or LUX, is the same model that has been frequently spotted and referred to as the Xiaomi SU7L. Compared to the standard SU7, this vehicle appears noticeably longer and is expected to cater to the executive luxury flagship market.

According to a report by 36Kr at the end of last year, Xiaomi Automobile initially plans to roll out four new models in 2026. These include a revised SU7, an executive version of the SU7, an extended-range five-seater SUV, and an extended-range seven-seater SUV.
At present, Xiaomi has already launched the new-generation SU7, as well as five-seater and seven-seater Pengcheng SUVs. The only model yet to be released is the executive version of the SU7, as mentioned in the reports.
However, it's worth noting that Xiaomi's trademark applications may also serve as a defensive strategy. They could simply be protective measures to safeguard against trademark squatting and may not necessarily translate into the final mass-produced models.
Are you looking forward to Xiaomi's new vehicles?
