On May 12, it emerged that a U.S. delegation is set to visit China from May 13 to 15. Media sources have unveiled the roster of participating enterprises, showcasing a diverse array of companies from key sectors such as technology, finance, aviation, and agriculture.
In the technology realm, the delegation will be spearheaded by Tesla, X platform founder Elon Musk, and Apple CEO Tim Cook. The group also includes Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon, Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrotra, Meta Global Affairs President Dina Powell McCormick, Coherent CEO Jim Anderson, and Illumina CEO Jacob Thaysen. Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins, despite receiving an official invitation, will be unable to join due to his company's earnings announcement scheduled for this week.
Turning to the finance sector, the delegation will be accompanied by BlackRock CEO Larry Fink, Blackstone CEO Stephen Schwarzman, Mastercard CEO Michael Miebach, and Visa CEO Ryan McInerney. Citigroup and Goldman Sachs have also dispatched senior executive representatives to be part of the delegation.
In the aviation and agriculture industries, Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg, GE Aviation CEO Larry Culp, and Cargill CEO Brian Sikes are slated to participate in the visit.
Notably absent from the accompanying list is NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, who has garnered significant attention. Sources close to the matter disclosed that Huang did not receive an official invitation, as the core topics of this trip do not encompass the chip and artificial intelligence sectors.
Previously, the U.S. government had greenlit the export of NVIDIA's H200 AI chips to China; however, the actual sales of these related chips have yet to materialize.
