Although Huawei has multiple new product launches planned for the second half of this year, the Mate 70 series is undoubtedly the focus of the most attention. The expectations for the Mate 70 are extremely high, especially after the Mate 60 announced the return of "Kirin 5G" a year ago, everyone is eagerly awaiting Huawei's new technological advancements.
Recently, the latest leaks about the upcoming Huawei Mate70 have garnered widespread attention. It is reported that this flagship phone boasts groundbreaking innovations in performance, system, imaging, screen, and fingerprint solutions, making it a heavy hitter in the mobile phone market in 2024.
Firstly, according to leaks, the Mate 70 series will adopt custom top-tier 1.5K resolution screens across the board, meeting users' high standards for screen clarity.
In terms of screen design, it is expected that the Huawei Mate 70 Pro and its larger variant will be equipped with quad-curved screens, while the standard Mate 70 may adopt a slightly smaller quasi-straight screen design.
Moreover, the Mate 70 Pro will retain the triple punch-hole design, consistent with the Mate 60 Pro. Additionally, the new series will utilize ultra-hard AR coating, with speculation that it may be named "Black Turtle Coating" or "Black Turtle 2.0."
Apart from screen upgrades, the Huawei Mate 70 series will also be equipped with a super-large capacity battery made of new materials. Although the specific capacity has not been announced, this configuration indicates that Huawei's Mate series phones will make breakthroughs in battery life.
On the imaging front, the Mate 70 series standard edition is expected to use the OV50H sensor, while other versions will utilize the OV50K. The OV50K boasts a 50MP 1/1.3" sensor size, LOFIC technology, and a super variable aperture.
However, it's worth noting that while Huawei is currently developing ultrasonic fingerprint unlocking technology, the Mate 70 series this year will not feature this capability.
Furthermore, two aspects of the Huawei Mate 70 series have garnered the most attention: the chip and the system. In terms of chips, barring any unexpected circumstances, we can expect to see the new flagship Kirin 9 series platform. However, information about this chip's naming, process, manufacturing steps, performance, functions, benchmark scores, etc., remains unknown in the short term and may only be revealed gradually after the new phone's launch. Compared to flagship chips from Apple, Qualcomm, and MediaTek, Kirin's ultimate performance lags significantly due to manufacturing process constraints, but Huawei will find alternative paths. During the Pocket 2 launch event and HDC2024 conference, Yu Chengdong stated twice that thanks to HarmonyOS NEXT's new system architecture, overall device performance will improve by 30%.
In other words, the Huawei Mate70 series will likely be equipped with a new iteration of the Kirin processor. Based on previous leaks, this new Kirin chip is expected to reach a 5nm process level, with a performance benchmark score exceeding 1.1 million, allowing it to return to the forefront of domestic performance flagships. With the support of HarmonyOS NEXT, the actual performance of the Huawei Mate70 series is indeed worth anticipating.
Unfortunately, the adaptation progress of HarmonyOS NEXT and the new Kirin processor is slow, and the Huawei Mate70 series will likely be delayed. It may only enter mass production and be released in the middle to late fourth quarter.
Additionally, Huawei is also preparing a tablet that is expected to be released alongside the Mate 70 series in November.
Finally, there are many other leaks about the Mate 70 series, but most lack conclusive evidence. For instance, replacing the larger X-axis linear motor, significantly narrowing the screen bezels, and improving issues such as slight light leakage and color cast at the edges. It's crucial to note that these leaks may undergo significant changes during the engineering prototype testing phase, and most information may only be finalized by August.
