For the next domestic mobile phone camp, basically all of them will be centered around Snapdragon 8 Elite and Dimensity 9400. Manufacturers are also gearing up, and various leaks have been unfolding successively. Due to the significant improvement in chip performance, mobile phone performance has also been comprehensively upgraded, and a comprehensive price increase has become inevitable. It is basically impossible to buy the first batch of models at 3999 yuan again. However, in reality, even if most people have a need to replace their phones, they may not necessarily decide to do so immediately, and manufacturers have actually given users more choices. Sub-brands with higher cost-effectiveness are becoming the choice of more and more people, and Redmi phones are one of them.
This year, the Redmi K70 series achieved very good sales results, which has also made people eagerly anticipate the upcoming K80 series. As the person in charge of the Redmi series, Wang Teng has also started warming up for the new phone. There have been online posts stating that there will be many new domestic mobile phones to be released, making it seem difficult to choose. In response to this news, Wang Teng commented that the K80 series will be a killer and worth looking forward to.
What is a killer? Literally, it means striking back after being attacked, using one's own strength to outdo competitors who have launched their products before oneself. The meaning is already very clear: the K80 series will have comprehensive upgrades and is worth waiting for compared to some early-released models. Of course, personally, I think Wang Teng's statement is a bit vague. After all, the K series is a sub-brand, and no matter how much it upgrades, its overall strength is unlikely to surpass some top flagship models, including Xiaomi 15. Therefore, the correct understanding should be that the K80 series will become a killer product among models of the same tier.
The most important upgrade is well-known to everyone: the K80 standard edition will use Snapdragon 8 Gen3, while the K80 Pro will use Snapdragon 8 Elite. As for the release date, last year's K70 series was released at the end of November. To gain popularity, the K80 series should be released slightly earlier. The question now is, in addition to their flagship models, competitors' sub-brands may also use the same chips. How can the K80 series achieve a killer status in the same tier? Personally, I believe there are several conditions.
First is timing. Compared to other sub-brands, the K80 series will be released earlier, which gives it a first-mover advantage and leaves a deeper impression on users. Second is the "smokescreen." You may remember that before the release of the Redmi Turbo 3, Wang Teng said that due to various cost pressures, the price of Turbo 3 would not be less than 2000 yuan. However, the actual starting price was 1999 yuan, creating a strong contrast. Since everyone knows that this is a product marketing tactic, there was no backlash. Could the same thing happen again?
Personally, I believe that the "killer" mentioned by Wang Teng is likely to refer to price. In the context of generally rising prices for the next generation of models, if the K80 series maintains the same price as the previous generation, it will be a huge attraction for users. Of course, the K80 standard edition's functional configuration should be slightly lower than that of the K70 Pro, otherwise there would be a significant conflict.
Do you think the K80 series has the strength to kill the competition?
