Recently, numerous netizens have observed that a sizable NVIDIA logo is being affixed to the exterior of an office building situated near the Zhongke Road subway station on Line 13 in Shanghai.

From the outside, the office building gives an impression of being unoccupied, with construction materials amassed below.

It is reported that this office building is located at 600 Naxian Road, neighboring the Baidu Shanghai R&D Center and AMD (Advanced Micro Devices), and is just across the street from the former headquarters of Shengqu Games. It serves as the No. 1 R&D building within the Zhangjiang Artificial Intelligence Industry Innovation and Service Platform Project, boasting 16 floors above ground, a height of 80 meters, and a construction area of 23,300 square meters. It stands as the tallest edifice in the Zhangjiang Artificial Intelligence and Innovation Service Complex.

The Zhangjiang Artificial Intelligence Industry Innovation and Service Platform Project is situated in the heart of Zhangjiang Science City, bordered by Haike Road to the north, Naxian Road to the east, Xiangke Road to the south, and Haiqu Road to the west. It spans an entire block and is developed by Shanghai Zhangjiang (Group) Co., Ltd. In addition to Building No. 1, there is also an 8-story Building No. 2 R&D building and a 2-story Building No. 3 R&D annex, collectively encompassing a construction area of 49,900 square meters.

It is noteworthy that, besides Baidu and AMD, Naxian Road, where NVIDIA has chosen to locate, also houses the China R&D Center of OmniVision Technologies, Pfizer Technology (the world's largest research-based biopharmaceutical company), Tata Consultancy Services (part of India's largest business group), China Huaxin (primarily engaged in energy and finance), and Huiyu Enterprise (a Fortune 500 company).

In addition to Shanghai, NVIDIA also maintains offices in cities like Beijing and Shenzhen. The Beijing office is situated in the Rongke Information Center, located in the core area of Zhongguancun and just 800 meters away from the Chinese Academy of Sciences. It is surrounded by companies such as DeepSeek, AMD, Baidu Ventures, Google, Apple, and ByteDance.

Silicon Shore International

Public records indicate that NVIDIA first established its Shanghai office in 2013, and it has remained at Silicon Shore International in Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park at No. 26 Qiuyue Road to this day. In May of this year, the British Financial Times reported that NVIDIA plans to set up an R&D center in Shanghai, aiming to uphold its leading position in the AI chip sector amidst challenges in sales within the Chinese market. The report stated that the Shanghai team will engage in global R&D efforts, encompassing chip design verification, product optimization, and research in specialized areas such as autonomous driving, with a focus on meeting the specific needs of Chinese customers.

NVIDIA has expressed its desire to tap into China's premier artificial intelligence talent pool.

Data reveals that NVIDIA currently employs nearly 4,000 individuals in China, with 2,227 based in Shanghai. The employee count has surged by 50%-60% over the past few years. The new Shanghai office will primarily serve R&D functions and is currently in the process of recruiting software engineers, among other positions.

Established in 1993 and headquartered in California, USA, NVIDIA was founded by Jensen Huang and initially focused on designing display chips and motherboard chipsets. Today, it has evolved into a comprehensive computing artificial intelligence company. Financial reports indicate that in the second quarter, NVIDIA's revenue reached $46.743 billion, marking a year-on-year increase of 56%; net profit stood at $26.422 billion, a year-on-year increase of 57%; and the gross profit margin reached 72.4%.

Within this, the revenue from the China region in the second quarter amounted to $2.769 billion, reflecting a year-on-year decrease of 24.49%.
