Domestic Brands Go Global: The Flourishing AI Hardware Market

According to the imaginative world of Ghost in the Shell, by 2029, humans will have widely embraced various cybernetic enhancements, including electronic brains, external memory devices, prosthetic bodies, and mechanical eyes.

Major Motoko Kusanagi sports AI glasses capable of seamlessly connecting to the network, effortlessly infiltrating critical network nodes and even the electronic brains of suspects.

Yet, in reality, with less than three years until 2029, humans are likely to have only AI glasses and a simplified version of Tachikoma to showcase their technological advancements.

Coincidentally, the renowned manga Dragon Ball also utilizes AI glasses to enhance the prestige of Vegeta's planet.

At the ongoing CES, a multitude of domestically produced AI glasses have flooded the market. Dozens of AI glasses have been unveiled, with prices ranging from a few dozen to several hundred or even thousands of dollars.

Some of these glasses support voice and large model interactions, while others display text and images on the lenses. Even some high-end models support video.

OpenAI's AI hardware has yet to hit the market, and judging by the actual products at CES, there may be no need for it anymore.

Among these flashy AI glasses, Xingkongjun holds the brand Quark, owned by Alibaba, in high regard.

This article is not a promotional piece but rather an exploration of Quark's greatest strength: its ecosystem.

Nowadays, the upper limits of large models from different tech giants are becoming increasingly similar. After all, large models are not some otherworldly technology; even a quantitative investor can rank in the Top 5 (Liang Wenfeng: You might as well report my ID card number).

Thus, the competition among large models no longer hinges solely on their inherent capabilities but also on their ecosystems.

Let's take an example.

I recently organized thousands of articles I've written into a knowledge base, enabling AI to write articles in my style.

Initially, I opted for Tencent's IMA, which was incredibly convenient. It allowed me to synchronize web pages to the knowledge base anytime using a Chrome tool and also manually import documents.

Later, I stumbled upon the fact that WPS also had a knowledge base. Then, I discovered that WPS's knowledge base could seamlessly integrate with WPS Cloud Drive, making it incredibly convenient. There was no need to manually import documents; the documents I wrote were automatically uploaded to the cloud drive and then to the knowledge base, solving the biggest pain point.

So, Xingkongjun subscribed to the premium membership once again...

This is the allure of an ecosystem.

However, Xingkongjun is not here to sing praises of Kingsoft and WPS.

When it comes to building ecosystems, globally speaking,

no one can outdo Google:

On January 14, Google announced that a new feature called "Personal Intelligence" is now available for testing by individual accounts. This feature integrates information from applications like Gmail and Google Photos, helping Gemini understand contextual relationships without explicit guidance. This enables the chatbot to comprehend user data across applications and provide more personalized responses.

If we were to find a domestic counterpart, it would definitely not be Kingsoft but Alibaba.

But now, Alibaba's primary focus is on developing intelligent agents for automatic food ordering, redoing what Doubao Phone attempted but failed to accomplish. However, Alibaba has succeeded, which is also a testament to its ecosystem's strength.

Ele.me (Taobao Instant Shopping) would not grant permission to Doubao Phone's intelligent agent but would certainly do so for Qianwen's intelligent agent.

Most crucially, Alibaba boasts Alipay, presenting an opportunity to surpass WeChat Pay.

Alibaba's ecosystem is incredibly rich, achieving a full closed-loop in the e-commerce sector, something even Tencent cannot accomplish.

When Quark supports automatic integration of the knowledge base with the cloud drive, I will subscribe to Quark's premium membership once again.

In fact, from the perspective of practical applications, China has far more AI application scenarios than the United States, which is why Xingkongjun is optimistic about the development of China's AI market.

Imagine this scenario, which will likely become a reality in the summer of 2026:

One day, Xingkongjun is on a business trip. He books his flight and hotel through Qianwen, which automatically pays through Alipay. The payment confirmation is displayed on his Quark glasses, and after confirmation, the transaction is completed. Quark glasses summon a ride-hailing car to take him straight to the airport. Upon landing, since the hotel is nearby, he finds a HelloBike and uses Gaode Navigation, which is displayed on his Quark glasses, to get there. Along the way, he orders local specialty takeout. When he checks into the hotel, the takeout ordered by Qianwen has already arrived.

The next day, at a local museum, Quark glasses provide information about the exhibits based on the data collected by the camera.

In the face of such comprehensive ecosystems, OpenAI, with its narrow focus, can only retreat. Only two types of AI companies will ultimately prevail.

One type is full-ecosystem giants like Google and Alibaba, where AI and other businesses resonate; the other type is wealthy individuals with excess funds for academic research.

Back in 2019, Xingkongjun discovered that a significant portion of A-share transactions, possibly exceeding 60%, directly or indirectly utilized quantitative investment strategies.

However, this view was dismissed by many traditional investors at the time, who believed that A-shares were not quantifiable. Facts have proven that in the face of technology, the human brain is but a block of wood.
