As we all know, China is the global manufacturing hub for electronic products, including mobile phones, computers, televisions, handheld game consoles, and more, with most of them being manufactured in China.
In addition to these finished products, many components, such as NAND flash chips and GPU graphics cards, are also manufactured in China, benefiting from its robust industrial system, well-developed supply chain, and low labor costs...
However, in recent years, due to US pressure and sanctions, some foreign companies have considered relocating, as the US aims to sever China's semiconductor supply chain, prohibiting advanced chip manufacturing equipment, technology, and even certain chips from entering China.
Moreover, the US has imposed higher tariffs on some products imported from China, increasing costs and prompting companies to consider moving out of China to avoid the impact of US bans.
Recently, media reports suggested that the world's second-largest graphics card manufacturer plans to leave China.
This company is PC Partner (Bestar Group), which plans to relocate its headquarters from Hong Kong, China, to Singapore. The company has already listed on the Singapore Exchange (SGX) mainboard on November 15.
Additionally, it is rumored that Bestar Group's graphics card production lines will also move from China to Indonesia. Previously, Bestar's production facilities were primarily located in Dongguan, Guangdong Province, and Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, China, with Dongguan accounting for approximately 67% of production capacity and Nanjing accounting for approximately 33%.
The reason for the relocation is the impact of US bans on the company's production and operations.
Bestar Group produces a wide range of graphics cards, most of which are based on NVIDIA's mid-to-high-end GPUs, and it also provides OEM services for some graphics card manufacturers.
However, due to US bans, NVIDIA's export of some high-end graphics cards to China is restricted, which undoubtedly affects Bestar Group. Without access to NVIDIA components, how can graphics cards be manufactured?
Furthermore, manufacturing graphics cards in China and exporting them to the US or other regions may also be affected.
Therefore, the company is relocating from China to become a Singaporean company, with manufacturing facilities moving to Indonesia. This way, whether it's bans or tariffs, they will no longer affect the company. It can normally and smoothly obtain NVIDIA's high-end chips, manufacture high-end graphics cards, and sell them globally.
What are your thoughts on this? Of course, one Bestar Group relocating is not a big deal, but if many Bestar Groups were to do so, it would be a significant matter. Therefore, we must take this seriously. What do you think?
