Tsinghua University recently released employment data for its 2025 graduating class, highlighting BYD as one of the top two private sector employers, underscoring its strong appeal to talent. As the sole new energy vehicle manufacturer on this esteemed list, BYD demonstrates its formidable presence in advanced manufacturing. Indeed, from 2023 to 2025, BYD has consistently ranked as a top employer among graduates from China’s leading engineering universities, including Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the University of Science and Technology of China, and Harbin Institute of Technology. This trend signals a significant shift of top talent toward the real economy and the burgeoning new energy sector.

This steady influx of elite talent is fueled by BYD’s comprehensive talent ecosystem, which ensures that talent is effectively "recruited, nurtured, and retained." In 2024, BYD pledged a 3 billion yuan donation to support educational philanthropy, funding university scholarships and new energy technology outreach initiatives to drive scientific and educational development in China and cultivate outstanding technical talent. For talent development, BYD provides a robust career growth system that integrates mentorship and project-based training models. Over half of its executives and technical leaders are homegrown, having risen through the ranks from fresh graduates, thus empowering young professionals. From 2023 to 2025, BYD recruited over 50,000 fresh graduates, with nearly 80% in R&D roles and 70% holding master’s or doctoral degrees, forming a high-caliber workforce.

Where talent converges, innovation flourishes. BYD’s concentration of top talent has become a cornerstone of its technological prowess. By the end of 2025, BYD had accumulated over 71,000 global patent applications and secured over 42,000 granted patents. Landmark innovations such as the Blade Battery and DM-i Super Hybrid technology have emerged from the relentless efforts of its elite R&D teams. Today, BYD employs over 120,000 R&D professionals, with cumulative R&D investment exceeding 220 billion yuan by the third quarter of 2025. This formidable technological force has propelled BYD to global leadership in new energy vehicle sales, continuously driving the global automotive industry toward electrification and intelligence.

BYD’s overseas performance continues to be robust. In 2025, overseas sales surpassed 1 million units, marking a 145% year-on-year increase; from January to February 2026, cumulative overseas sales exceeded 200,000 units, a 42.3% YoY rise. Overseas markets have become BYD’s most vibrant growth engine.

This success reflects BYD’s strategic shift from "product exports" to "industrial ecosystem globalization." In logistics, BYD operates eight car carriers, establishing an autonomous shipping fleet that covers major global routes. For energy replenishment, it plans to construct 20,000 flash-charging stations by the end of 2026 and initiate overseas expansion. Continuous improvements in industrial chain support are driving sustained growth in overseas markets.

The bedrock of BYD’s global expansion lies in its sustained investment in top talent. On the afternoon of March 20, the "Gathering a Million Talents in South China" promotional event, jointly hosted by Shenzhen and Tsinghua University, took place in the main hall of the Tsinghua Law Library. During the event, BYD Chairman Wang Chuanfu shared his entrepreneurial journey and extended a heartfelt invitation: "As a representative of Shenzhen enterprises and BYD, I sincerely invite all students to graduate and come to Shenzhen to build careers and create new ‘Spring Stories’!"

From attracting top university talent to nurturing an enterprise-wide ecosystem, from breakthroughs in core technologies to leading the global new energy industry transformation, BYD leverages its strong talent appeal to rally China’s manufacturing strength, actively implementing the national strategy of "technological self-reliance and strength."
