Before the Guangzhou Auto Show, the largest Audi 4S store in Tianjin went bankrupt, causing significant losses to car owners

In the domestic auto market, the collapse of auto dealers is not uncommon. Traditionally, we perceive that most of the failed auto dealers belong to car brands with poor sales. For example, joint venture brands like Škoda and Mitsubishi.

However, after entering 2024, along with the rise of domestic auto brands and the decline of joint venture brands, many joint venture auto dealers have struggled. The collapse of mainstream joint venture auto dealers, including Nissan, has also become frequent.

Just before the opening of the Guangzhou Auto Show, news of an Audi dealer closing down attracted considerable online attention.

According to media reports, Tianjin Yonghao Aoda, the largest Audi 4S store in Tianjin, suddenly closed recently, and a closure notice bearing the official seal of Tianjin Yonghao Aoda Automobile Sales and Service Co., Ltd. circulated online.

The notice stated that due to a sudden withdrawal of bank loans, causing a break in the capital chain, the store would cease operations from November 12, 2024, temporarily suspending all businesses such as new car sales and after-sales maintenance. The store is actively seeking solutions and expects to confirm them by December 12, 2024, promising to inform car owners promptly.

From this notice, we can roughly understand that the main reason for this Audi 4S store's "explosion" is a lack of funds. Whether it is truly due to the bank withdrawing loans as stated in the notice, and whether normal operations can be resumed later, will need to be verified by time.

Even if it is indeed due to the bank withdrawing loans, it is most likely because the price war in the auto market has reduced the profitability of this 4S store, leading to a financial crisis. If the business is operating well, banks typically would not withdraw loans. Banks only make such decisions when they perceive something is amiss.

Public information shows that Tianjin Yonghao Aoda Automobile Sales and Service Co., Ltd. was established on March 6, 2019, and is the largest Audi 4S store in Tianjin. Its registered address is in Nankai District, Tianjin, and it is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tianjin Yonghao Group Co., Ltd.

On the day of the closure on November 12, there were still display cars in the showroom. Upon seeing the news, many car owners collectively demanded their rights in the showroom that day. Just one day later, on November 13, all vehicles in the hall had been cleared out, leaving the entire hall empty.

As of November 13, car owners affected by the closure had created three new groups with a total membership exceeding 1,500, and this number is still increasing.

Judging from the above figures, a significant number of car owners have been affected by the closure of Tianjin Yonghao Aoda Audi 4S store. These include those who spent over 10,000 yuan on unlimited maintenance packages and those who paid 800,000 yuan for cars but did not receive them.

It is initially estimated that the amount claimed by car owners exceeds 100 million yuan.

Not only car owners but also employees of this Audi 4S store are seeking their rights, with about 70-80 employees currently in the process of doing so.

This incident reminds us once again to be extremely cautious when buying cars from 4S stores. Before officially receiving the car, vigilance must not be relaxed. It is safer to place car payments directly into the manufacturer's designated account through online ordering.

As for the so-called unlimited maintenance packages and lifetime free warranties promoted by 4S stores, unless they are offered by the manufacturer, it is advisable not to purchase them.

Finally, I would like to ask Audi manufacturers on behalf of these Audi car owners seeking their rights: Are you going to take responsibility for this matter?
