According to a report from CCTV News on June 14, China's low-orbit broadband satellite internet recently achieved communication network test validation in Thailand and conducted on-site demonstration applications.
This is the first time that China's low-orbit broadband internet has gone abroad and landed overseas.
It is understood that this validation was jointly completed by GalaxySpace and Mahidol University of Thailand. The two parties achieved interconnection with China's low-orbit broadband internet test constellation through previously constructed ground test stations and other facilities in Thailand, and conducted real-time satellite internet video call demonstrations.
The entire process was smoothly connected with stable call quality, demonstrating the important role that satellite internet can play in relevant scenarios.
GalaxySpace is a private enterprise specializing in low-orbit broadband communication satellite constellations. Founded by Xu Ming, the co-founder/former president of Cheetah Mobile, it officially went into operation in 2018. It has received investment from Shunwei Capital led by Lei Jun and is now valued at over 10 billion yuan. It has independent research and development capabilities in payload and whole satellite.
Its self-developed Tianke Stackable Flat Satellite adopts an integrated multi-functional frame and a highly integrated comprehensive electronic system, suitable for low-cost, mass-produced, and rapid development of the entire satellite.
Equipped with a high-storage ratio flexible solar wing and an active thermal control fluid loop, it greatly enhances the satellite's carrying capacity, with a single satellite capacity exceeding 15Gbps and a power of 3600W.
