In 2025, among the array of emerging domestic automakers, a mere three are poised to successfully meet their annual sales targets. These standout automakers are Leapmotor, boasting a target completion rate of 119.3%; XPENG, with a rate surpassing 120%; and Xiaomi Auto, achieving a 117% completion rate.
The key to these three automakers' success in becoming the sole emerging brands to fulfill their 2025 annual sales targets lies in their distinctive competitive edges. Leapmotor leverages a full-stack, self-developed low-cost strategy, pushing vehicle prices to their limits and emerging as the sales leader among emerging automakers in 2025. XPENG, much like Leapmotor, found significant sales success with its entry-level model, the MONA M03.
In stark contrast, Xiaomi Auto, the newest entrant to the market, took a high-end approach. Its two models, the Xiaomi SU7 and Xiaomi YU7, directly compete with the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y. Capitalizing on immense online buzz, both models became runaway hits, propelling Xiaomi Auto to remarkable success in its inaugural full year post-launch.

As we reach the midpoint of 2026, mainstream emerging automakers unveiled their June sales data on July 1. With these figures in hand, the first-half sales results of these automakers have come to the fore. Surprisingly, the three automakers that surpassed their 2025 sales targets now find themselves languishing near the bottom in terms of target completion rates for the first half of this year. Let's delve into the data.
Entering 2026, Leapmotor's sales have continued to soar, consistently leading the pack among emerging automakers. June sales soared to 93,376 units, marking a 95% year-on-year increase and a 14.2% month-on-month rise. This performance not only set a new monthly record for Leapmotor but also shattered the sales record for domestic emerging automakers.
From January to June this year, Leapmotor's cumulative sales reached 356,000 units, making it the only emerging automaker to exceed 300,000 units in cumulative sales for the first half of the year. Despite these impressive sales figures, Leapmotor's target completion rate is nearly at the bottom, achieving only 35.6% of its one million sales target.

Shifting focus to XPENG, June sales exceeded 40,000 units, up 16% year-on-year, ranking fourth among emerging automakers in terms of sales. In the first half of this year, XPENG's cumulative deliveries reached 166,000 units, securing a spot in the top five in the sales rankings. However, when it comes to target completion rate, XPENG's performance is lackluster, achieving only 30.2%. Among Leapmotor, XPENG, and Xiaomi, XPENG has the lowest target completion rate.
Finally, Xiaomi Auto, as per its usual practice, did not disclose specific June sales figures, maintaining sales above 30,000 units. Looking at the total first-half sales, Xiaomi Auto significantly outperformed XPENG, reaching 169,000 units. Nevertheless, its target completion rate was only 30.7%, slightly higher than XPENG's 30.2%.
Other emerging automakers, such as NIO and Li Auto, while not as striking in terms of target completion rates, have delivered decent performances. NIO's cumulative deliveries in the first half of the year reached 191,000 units, with a target completion rate nearing 42%. Li Auto's cumulative deliveries in the first half of the year reached 194,000 units, with a target completion rate of 39.7%.

Given the current sales trajectory of emerging automakers, which ones do you believe will successfully achieve their sales targets this year? Will Leapmotor, XPENG, and Xiaomi be able to replicate their success from last year? Share your thoughts in the comments section.
